My friend irritates me to no end when he does this. Delivery is far from cheap in my country so if I'm lazy enough to splurge for a pizza, I'm gonna eat it all. And lick the box it came in.

You and my dog have the same energy.

[–] qyron@sopuli.xyz 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Everyone should have this energy.

No leftovers. No spoiling.

Ever.

I agree. He helps a lot.

I've never eaten a pizza where the crust actually tasted bad, and always heard this as a "picky children" behaviour, but it seems too widespread for that. Is it more a texture thing or something? Genuinely trying to understand this.

It can depend on the quality and age of the pizza. Sometimes it can be tooth-breaking hard or overly chewy like cheap gristle-filled jerky. Also a lot of these 'kids' places, like Chuck E. Cheese cheapen out on that recipe and care, training the kid to hate the crust. And, when one kid starts ignoring the crust, they'll all start doing it.

The crust is fine but not as good as the rest and I want the best for last. My solution is to abandon all etiquette and eat the crust first, at least for the last slice.

My god, you monster.

Hard bread, flaky bread, dry bread, and crust count as all three, are disgusting and can only be eaten by soaking in a sauce of some kind. If none is available, I just throw it out. It's not filling enough to matter money wise

That said, the invention of stuffed crust has mostly solved the issue for me. Unfortunately, French and European bread is still a pain in the jaw and taste buds to eat, but the inside is worth it.

Sounds like someone raised on Wonder bread.

[–] SethranKada@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Yup, bread should be soft. It should be pleasant, and not hurt your gums to eat or your jaw to chew.

[–] moody@lemmings.world 10 points 1 month ago

Wonder bread and similar loaves are made from batter, not dough, which makes it closer to cake than real bread.

Someday I will gnaw seeds atop your weak-jawed grave

[–] Gathorall@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I recommend using your teeth to masticate hard foods, it makes them significantly more pleasurable to eat.

I have follow up questions for anyone making pizza out of crusty french loaves. I know the texture you're talking about, and agree this would taste awful in pizza format.

Isn't it past your bedtime kiddo? Have some milk, brush your teeth and someone will be in shortly to tuck you in. You've had a busy day and you need your sleep so you have lots of energy to play with all your toys tomorrow.

If you're cursed with subpar pizza, you can always dip the crust in ranch or something.

[–] atopi@piefed.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 month ago

i dont understand people who dont eat the crust

thats the best part

[–] Maxxie@piefed.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm a very picky eater but of a different variety I guess, because I fucking love crust. There's no bread or pastry I don't like

[–] Obi@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 month ago

I don't understand this, my kid could eat plain tortilla or bread all day but pizza crust? No way!
