This was what retro gaming was back in the day, in 2011. Very retro. You went backward in time. That was what it meant!

Considering I grew up with PC shooters in the 90s, Halo was waaay overrated. The best thing Bungie did was introduce online multiplayer to consoles.

Sure I had fun zooming around with the warthog in college LAN games, but the overall pacing of the game was glacially slow coming from twitchy shooters like Doom, Quake, Unreal Tournament and Starsiege: Tribes.

For me, Starsiege: Tribes set a bar that has not been cleared since. AVP 2 came close. Tribes: Ascend also came close in its earlier days.
