We all have a choice to not partake. But extremely few people are willing to give up the comfort and conveniences of modern civilization.

In my mind there's only an extreme few that have the privilege to give up comfort and convenience.

Since you have to be mentally stable, physically healthy/fully able to harvest and build your own... everything by hand if you want to be free from industrial society as the meme suggests

Since everything from the bricks (or wood and paperboard if you're American) to the glass and concrete that go into building a home requires an industrial process

Every medication that exists requires industry, so good luck being diabetic or allergic to anything

I get it if the meme is suggesting "we need to give up on 'one day shipping' and fruit harvested in south America being shipped to Taiwan for packaging in plastic then shipped to north America for sale, and stop buying and feeding the constant stream of plastic disposable temu shite coming out of Chinese factories." When it says "Chains of industrial society"

Yeah, I was just going to ask OP to walk me through a hypothetical scenario where this would be possible.

You need a benefactor to provide land or you need money to buy the land to live off. Even if given to you, you need money to pay the taxes to retain that land. Otherwise the system will find you whether want to be part of it or not.

It's the unfortunate situation where the system is perfectly designed to keep itself afloat at the cost of everyone that's not a part of the ruling class :/

Yes, but isn't it related to autonomy ? I mean, if all the way you have experimented well being is through consumerism, pointing an other way make you dependent of the people knowing how to enjoy life in this way.

Of course, I'm not seeing that this is good enough, my point is that judging the "autonomy" of people need to value their point of view (even the unsustainable and exploitive one). As such, I think we shall make people experiment space without oppression, lo socialization without consumerism. I think that counter-culture like what the AIM movment is doing or self-govern and anti-capitalist union are some way to go

Without industrial society, I'd be dead of an autoimmune disease. Of course, that's assuming I survived my birth without industrial society, which also would not have happened.

Dicks out, yall

Oh, this is simple one: responsibility. Autonomy (I make my own decisions) means responsibility (so whatever comes out as a result, I am the one responsible). Too many people are running from it like hell
