It has weather accounts for, what seems like, every single city in the US and the microblog feed is absolutely spammed by it. It doesn't seem like fedia supports blocking other instances, only accounts, but I don't want to have to manually block every single account from that instance.

Please defederate from it. It doubtful that it adds any value.

@kbal @LostWanderer it looks like we're defederated from them now! Thank you @jerry!

This is a happy day indeed! Random and MicroBlog will be usable again.

And it was reverted 😢 @jerry / @jerry@infosec.exchange did you change your mind? @mobridge__south_dakota@us.fedimeteo.com is now in my feed again and off the list of instances you don't federate with

I didn’t change anything. It apparently broke for a while. The interface to ban instances is currently borked because it tries to include all instances on the same page and it just times out, so I have to work through that first.

Thanks for the update. So maybe us.fedimeteo.com is just silent for a while sometimes and the feed is readable :D

I would love to have that spammy us.fedimeteo.com instance to be defederated from, as they aren't good Fediverse Citizens. The volume of spam instances is just to fucking high. As I am not a moderator, it doesn't seem like there is a user facing way to block the domain. The great thing about Lemmy is that users can easily block instances with a few clicks. Fedia needs a user facing domain block, even Mastodon has it.

Yeah, I spent probably an hour manually (with some help from a script) blocking all those accounts when their weather spam first started taking over the feed last year. Having such a huge block list that's frequently getting used probably doesn't help with the server load situation.

An option to block the whole domain would be much more convenient.
