Deputy Prime Minister David Seymour has renewed his call for the government to sell its 51 percent stake in Air New Zealand after it reported a significant half-year loss.

The airline posted a bottom-line loss of $40 million in the six months ended December, compared to last year's profit of $106m.

Seymour said Air NZ had been doing "politically motivated stuff" when it couldn't take off and land on time for a decent price.

"Get woke, go broke. We hear about electric planes, glossy reports on climate change, paper cups in the Koru Lounge. What they can't seem to do is take off and land on time," he said.

Let me get this straight. Air New Zealand, a company that the government owns a dominant number of controling shares in, is not performing how the government wants. The governments big idea to get Air New Zealand to do what the government wants is for the government to give up its controlling position in this company???

Do i have this correct? Is Rimmer all there? Does the computer generating the hologram need a check up?

This is a common problem with people who hold extreme views about something.

People who don't like the US end up thinking Iran are the good guys, for example. Seymour thinks the free market is the answer to everything, and tries to jam it into everything the government ever does.

The ability to hold two contradicting truths in your mind is a sign of either advanced thinking or idiocy.

To use your example.

The fact that the US are not the good guys and the fact that Iran are also not the good guys, are seemingly contradictory truths.

David Seymour calls for government to sell it's stake in Air NZ to his friends while share prices are lower. Blames paper cups in Koru lounge for lower profits. Says they charge too much while also saying they aren't returning enough profit.
