What does the word dictator mean anyway? Isn't that just a preference?

OP, you're a bootlicker.

Khameini did not personally torture people. He was a leader of a religious sect that has a particularly misogynistic structure, much like EuroCentric Christianity does.

The problem is that the last time Iranians elected someone, the US and UK deposed him and reinstalled a monarch that gave the country's wealth the UK and US. The theocracy was the only movement that existed to unseat the monarchy and take back the country away from the Brits and the Yanks.

And it succeeded. It actually made the masses live's bette than under the monarchy. But it relied on the theocratic structure to maintain itself.

So now we have a problem. It would be great for Iran to not be a theocracy. But if it becomes a democracy, it will be dominated, again, by the West. So the theocracy maintains itself as a siege government.

Of course the answer here is obvious. Just stop besieging Iran and the theorcracy will become less relevant over time.

But the West couldn't do that, because its goal isn't democracy, it's dominance. So it sanctions Iran economically in order to improverish the people in the hopes that they will fight the theocracy. Why does the West want the people to fight the theocracy? Say it with me now- so the West can dominate Iran again! Very good.

So now you're sitting here trying to crow about the death of Khameini as though somehow this is a good thing, presumably because it means the potential end of the theocracy. Unless of course you think Khameini himself is like actually responsible for individually oppressing each women, but you're not that daft, I'm sure. But here's the thing. The way that he was killed? Domination by the West. Over 100 children killed in a single strike. And the result of the fall of the theocracy? Domination by the West.

It's not about America bad. It's about domination by the West is exactly what the Iranian people fought to defend themselves against all those years ago when they ousted the puppet government. No more Western domination. No more Western siege. Do you realize that Western sanctions have killed more people in the last 50 years than all violent conflict combined over that same time frame? The West has been killing millions of people, 40 million in the last 50 years, through itss sanctions programs. The West has been killing far an away more people than any authoritarian government has killed purely through economic warfare alone.

It is NOt a good thing for the theocracy to be dismantled by Western bombs. It is not a good thing for the theocracy to be replaced by Western dominance. The people of Iran will not flourish under Western dominance. We have already seen this. Read your fucking history. The West is a psychotic belligerent that trafficks billions in drugs and humans globally, kills indiscriminately, and gloats about it openly. When the US killed 500k Iraqi children, Secretary of State said "I would do it again absolutely. It was worth it." And that was about a war that they all knowingly lied about and they know we all know they all knowingly lied about!

No, America is not bad. The US and the West are psychotic, rapacious, mass murdering, belligerents and nothing, absolutely nothing that is aligned with their interests should be celebrated, supported, or defended. You may not understand how each thing they do fits into this broader pattern of mass murder crimes against humanity psychopathy, but you will eventually. You'll either come to terms with it or you'll suck up into a delusional mindset where maybe the US does things for good reasons sometimes.

Take Afghanistan. The Taliban treated women poorly there. The US invaded and made it better right? You know that Afghani guy that shot at some National Guards in DC? Yeah. That guy was a member of a Zero Unit. Look it. The US organized literal child soldiers into these units and trained them to torture, terrorize, rape, and murder civilians all over Afghanistan. He was 13 when he joined.

You want that in Iran? Is tht how you think the Iranian people will be liberated? By having Western white supremacist psychotic raping mass murderers organize 13 year olds into child soldier groups to rape and murder entire villages? That's what we should be celebrating right now?

But anyone who disagrees with you is just "America bad", right? That's all. They're shallow. They don't have the sophisticated moral understanding you do. Sometimes to make a breakfast you gotta break a few eggs. Right?

let's say you're living down the street from a family with an abusive father. The guy is just cruel to his wife and kids. So one day you decide to take matters into your own hands and you go and shoot the dad dead. That's good, right? The cruel, abusive father is dead, so it's good and justified, right? But you didn't ask the wife or the kids if they wanted their father to be killed. You didn't care what they wanted, because you didn't do it for them. You did it for you. You did it because it was what YOU wanted. And if they get mad at you for it, you say oh they're just ingrates. They don't appreciate what I did for THEM. But, it wasn't for them. It was never for them. It was for you.

This is such a horrible take and I think this whole war is a crime against humanity

[–] PlantJam@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Can you please explain why it's a horrible take? Explain it like I've been anxiously avoiding news for the past sixteen months.

The situation in Iran is nothing like having a neighbor with an abusive father figure.

It's more like having a local black church in white America, where the white people were the dominant violent force for 600 years and the black church was actually run by a pastor who collaborated with the white supremacist militias. The churchgoers all tithed dutifully every week, and they workee in their community garden, and the pastor took a good chunk of that money and some of that food and gave it to the white militias. In exchange, the pastor was protected and made rich, while the churchgoers remained poor and unsafe.

The churchgoers then decide that they've had enough and they band together and establish a democratic committee and eventually elect a new pastor and kick the old pastor out.

Then the white suprenacist militias infiltrated the church, paid a few of the less scrupulous of the church goers to support them and disbanded the committee, ran the elected pastor out of town, and reinstalled the old pastor who then not only kept the money and food flowing to the white militias but also cracked down hard on the people who dared oppose him.

And then a new leader emerged among the churchgoers. He and his group had seen enough of what happens if you pretendike the white militias are going to leave you alone and let you live in peace. He formed a militant black organization, and he kept discipline in the organization by adhering to something all the churchgoers had in common and all the white militias did not - the church's religion. It turned out that two things were true. 1) this religion combined with militancy had many brutal disciplinarian aspects to it and the members lost some important freedoms and 2) it created a strong bond that the white militias could not infiltrate, could not manipulate, and the movement got stronger over time.

Eventually this new militia, helmed by this leader, established a whole structure of organization, created a strong reliable bureaucracy, distributed power effectively to keep the organization running, defend against white militias, and was able to not only get rid of the pastor who betrayed his people but also rebuilt the church, took back the money, and made the garden bigger and kept all the food for the people.

And now, after decades of the white militias sieging the black church, where they have been killing millions of people in other black churches but have been afraid to attack this church directly because it is very strong and very large, where the white militias have been going around the whole state telling every other white militia to not help them, in fact to sell them nothing so that they might starve or die without medicines and the like, where the white militias even got other subjugated black churches to stop supporting this particular black church, NOW we want to say that the white militias killing the current pastor of that church is a good thing?

No. It is not an abusive father situation. It is not a question of one man. It is not a question of one death. The white militias killed a hundred children in a single day. The white militias killed not only the pastor but his children and his grandchildren in a single day. They went after his fucking bloodline.

Context matters. History matters. You cannot hope to understand or explain the situation by just plucking the entire thing out of its entire context and distilling it down to a conversation about one bad man of an abstract group and the abstract group of people that abstractly killed him.

Oh look, another magat butthurt because what their pedo-daddy did isn't liked by everyone else.

Burgerland and the zionazi state are a cancer for the world and things could only get better if both vanished.
