France has authorised United States forces to use French military bases during the conflict involving Iran, according to a report by BFMTV.

The broadcaster said the decision would allow US armed forces access to facilities on French territory as the war continues to expand across the region.

Officials at the French Ministry of Armed Forces did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the report.

This framing is misleading. France's armed forces have denied having given any such authorization (articles in French news outlets 1, 2), instead France has clarified that US' support aircraft are temporarily permitted to use one particular airbase in Southern France according to NATO rules. (3)

Macron is a useless neoliberal that is desperately trying to cling on to power while his party loses ground in the polls. Macron and Starmer are supporting the US because they are aligned in their goals right now.
