Race mellowed out by the middle of it. Wonder how it would've been had Verstappen's car not borked yesterday.

Hamilton seems much more comfortable with these regs than ground effect. Feels like his podium isn't too far away.

[โ€“] Microw@piefed.zip 0 points 1 day ago

Hamilton suddenly driving good again once he knows that the car could win a race. That guy is truely like a yo-yo.

[โ€“] birne@feddit.org 22 points 1 day ago

I was told there would be 22 cars this year instead of 20. I feel lied to.

Ferrari strategy ๐Ÿ˜ญ

[โ€“] stephen01king@piefed.zip 3 points 1 day ago

I'm starting to think those two words are an oxymoron.

[โ€“] _ed@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 day ago

I think it was the right call. Trying to imitate the mercs they would have had no chance. Ferrari did get lucky with the vsc.

[โ€“] Nighed@feddit.uk 1 points 1 day ago

They had gone past the entrance before the vac was thrown I think?

WHAT PIASTRI CRASHED DURING RECON LAP??!??

Ah super unfortunate for Hadjar. He was doing so well.

[โ€“] t0fr@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 day ago

It was exciting at the beginning, and then all of a suddent it wasn't anymore

I was surprised to see the Astons out for nearly double the laps they predicted. I wonder if the vibration wasn't as bad as they thought, at least for this race

What an explosive start by Ferrari wow.

[โ€“] eta@feddit.org 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Damn Verstappen is on the move those hard tires.

[โ€“] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

24 laps and Stroll and Perez have already been overtaken.

[โ€“] 4am@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Why did this happen? Was this the transponder turning back on as they tested something in the garage?

[โ€“] Jacob93@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

No, they kept visiting the pits then returning to the race. Treated it more like a test session.

[โ€“] 4am@lemmy.zip 1 points 14 hours ago

Ah, donโ€™t know they were allowed to do that. I guess if the car is running on its own power itโ€™s fine? TIL

I'm loving this back and forth fight so far.

[โ€“] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Nooooooo Bottas' car

Hopefully not a Ferrari disasterclass with the pit stop strategy.

[โ€“] wes@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

๐Ÿ™„ thb it was not a absolute disasterclass, but strategy-wise it could have been much better.

[โ€“] birne@feddit.org 5 points 1 day ago

That is a nice fight at the front. If that is what we will get more often, then I don't care that the drivers don't think that the cars are fun.

[โ€“] Nighed@feddit.uk 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Maybe Aston HAS been sandbagging! ๐Ÿคฃ

[โ€“] Nighed@feddit.uk 2 points 1 day ago

Ah, there we go. At least giving everyone that overtook him again some fantasy points.

[โ€“] _ed@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 day ago

Linblad V Lawson.

Oof.

[โ€“] Nighed@feddit.uk 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

They didn't show THAT clip on TV did they?!? Very close at the start!

[โ€“] CMLVI@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Mercs just did not fade like I thought they would. Damn

[โ€“] Munkisquisher@lemmy.nz 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I think they went into tyre management mode after the early stop they were cruising from there

[โ€“] CMLVI@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Tire management mode faster than most other cars flat out it seems lol

[โ€“] Nighed@feddit.uk 4 points 1 day ago

There goes Alonso!

That Red Bull PU went uh-uh-uh-oh-ah ๐Ÿฅด I was curious what Hadjar can do

[โ€“] Nighed@feddit.uk 4 points 1 day ago

Apparently hulk is being rolled back to the pits?

[โ€“] PhatalFlaw@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

OMG Piastri. Choking under that pressure? Broken? Computer f up?

[โ€“] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago

Ted's Notebook seemed to imply both a driver error and a car issue.

[โ€“] florge@feddit.uk 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Something similar to what happened to Max maybe?

Edit: looking at the replays, it seems like a driver error.

[โ€“] PhatalFlaw@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

I would not be shocked if it was the hybrid giving that much more power than he's used to that caught him by a bit of surprise as he slipped on the accelerator

Well that was quick.

[โ€“] Nighed@feddit.uk 2 points 1 day ago

Who is shaking more, Russel or Alonso? ๐Ÿ˜†

[โ€“] hsr@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago

I'm curious about how chaotic deployment is going to be in race trim

[โ€“] PhatalFlaw@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

F1 TV on Apple TV this year is SO much better than Sky on ESPN. What the hell have I been watching for the last many years?

[โ€“] Drusenija@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago

Wish it was global and not just US only. I know I can probably run a VPN and get it working but seems like a lot of effort when I have access elsewhere.
