They got spanked hard in the last election, and I think a lot of them have lost the taste for it.
They're also contending with the now-traditional tug-of-war between the halfway sensible Tories, and the conspiracy-mongering loons. So far, the halfway sensible ones are winning, but with a lot of them choosing to step down...hard to say what will happen next.
Interesting. In many ways this mirrors whats going on with the federal conservatives. The article said this was the second conservative MP to decide to run as an independent. Thats’s not quite as dramatic as a floor crossing but its similarly detrimental to the conservatives
