You had to manually turn it on. It was buried in settings, and it created 2 separate chats. Of course nobody used it. I only found out about it a month ago

Whereas I got rid of my instagram that I barely used.

[–] CosmoNova@lemmy.world 7 points 7 hours ago

I‘m surprised they even had that. The average Instagram user probably doesn‘t even know what that means.

If you intentionally obscure a feature, people won't use it.
If you make it the default, they will.

If you expect privacy with any meta product you are insane to begin with.

If people thought TikToks invasion of privacy was bad, wait until they realize how bad meta products are

Most people just think whatever the media tells them to think, and the media is owned by the ruling class

  1. it was encrypted?

  2. it had to be activated?!?

[–] Unsealed9041@lemmy.ca 4 points 5 hours ago

They'd never make it default when it costs them a thousanth of a penny per message.

Next, WhatsApp loses this "rarely used" feature also

[–] senna@lemmy.world 9 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

It's really interesting that even with occasional usage of the app not once has this setting been mentioned or brought up for me. Why remove it?

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 1 points 8 hours ago

No point supporting it if no one uses it.

Sorry guys, my fault. Zuck just thought my beautiful dick pics shouldn't be hidden from the world any longer
