Sounds like the firetruck was cleared to cross when the CRJ was still on the roll. 2 dead on the scene (presumably the pilots), and four critically injured (presumably the firefighters). I can't imagine the forward FA was uninjured.

Hmm, maybe losing a shitload of experienced ground controllers during the shutdown was a bad thing?

Point withstanding, I have flown into LGA enough times to recognize the controller's voice. He has always seemed on top of it.

To me, it seems like the UAL emergency had him task saturated, and when that happens something eventually slips through the cracks.

For sure. It's classic swiss cheese model of aviation accidents. It may have been a controller mistake due to high workload, but why is that controller so overworked to begin with?

Sounds like the forward FA was thrown clear of the jet still strapped in.
