Oh God Bearman looks really hurt. He was limping.

[โ€“] Nighed@feddit.uk 11 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

They confirmed no fractures. 50G though!

[โ€“] No1@aussie.zone 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Frightening to watch.

A passenger as soon as he was forced onto the grass.

Hope he's OK

Glad to hear that he doesn't have a fracture. Thankfully he has a while to recover with the two race cancellations.

Yeah, it was 50G-s into the wall.

Back to back wins for Kimi. Let's go!

Welcome back, Piastri.

Wondered when Oscars season was going to start

Fernando Alonso finished the race!

Don't call it a come back baby!

What do we call a DRS train now there is no DRS?

"Overtake train" really doesn't work....

Snail trail? ๐Ÿคฃ

These regs were always going to cause this kind of crash. At some point, the car behind is going to plough into the car in front at high speed and cause a major accident.

Man, I have so much respect for Bearman there. He knew if he held his line, there would have been pretty heavy contact with the other car. And then you probably have 2 cars out of control.

So, he purposely let his car drift wide, knowing he was going to have wheels on the grass, but hoping he could coax it back on the track and then brake.

But he couldn't, and grass doesn't slow you down much.

Really hope he's OK. Deserves a medal, not a serious injury.

Reminds me of Riccardo breaking his hand, he could have let go of the wheel and avoided it, but kept steering to avoid hitting Liam.

What did f1tv say again ? 15 years no safety car after the first 10 or so laps in Japan? ๐Ÿ™„

Yeah they jinxed it.

Nooooo Ollie! Edit: seems he is in pain :(

[โ€“] hsr@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 day ago

George can't catch a break, sheesh.

Piastri is doing really well holding off Russell.

Good weekend for Mclaren. Gg piastri

Wow all 22 cars making the start today!

That anthem was badass

Without bad luck Russell will have no luck at all.

[โ€“] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Wait why is the formation lap delayed by 10 minutes?

[โ€“] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Ah a crash in one of the support races.

Edit: they showed the replay for it. Holy shit it was wild. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IdLuZA3Bwak

Indy had a Grosjean-like crash as well today https://youtu.be/XQPm-tDpC_Q thankfully the car didn't catch on fire.

[โ€“] wes@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Wow, both crashes are wild! Hopefully both drivers walked away unscathed.

While we wait for the race to begin, I suggest watching https://www.instagram.com/mercedesamgf1/reel/DWbTVvnjfXQ/

Adorable.

Those name overlays that appear over the cars are really annoying.

[โ€“] wes@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Gehehe Ocon tagging along with Verstappen through the midfield

[โ€“] No1@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Looking forward to this start.

Will both the Mclarens actually get off the line?

[โ€“] Nighed@feddit.uk 3 points 1 day ago
[โ€“] birne@feddit.org 2 points 1 day ago

I think they did pretty well. So far Piastri has led the race every time he finished a lap this season.

[โ€“] No1@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Can this telecast fit any more Mario advertising in?

[โ€“] No1@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Not a bad race.

As my guru says:

"He who leads, wins.
Now, go get me another beer!"

[โ€“] No1@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago

Looks like a fight for 2nd and 3rd now ๐Ÿ˜ž

[โ€“] No1@aussie.zone 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

OK, I need a replay of that start!

Stewards investigation of orange cars lol
