The other day at our city park, a dude came along in his truck, with a trailer and a 4 wheeler on the trailer. He just wanted to enjoy a ride around in the good weather.

Not much of a big deal really, but they don't like people parking or driving on the grass, and they definitely don't like people driving a motor vehicle on the walking/jogging track..

Welp, someone called the cops on him, and they sent 3 police cars out for him. Within about a half hour of the cops talking with him, he was arrested, and they sent not one but two tow trucks, one for his truck and the other for his trailer and 4 wheeler.

Apparently, going by the inmate search I did later, he was stubborn and didn't care to obey the cops, and also charged with resisting arrest. The way the inmate report read seemed like the cops tried giving him a warning and an out, like take that shit out of the park, but he was too stubborn to comply. 🤦‍♂️

So now he's in jail plus he's gonna have at least 2 vehicle impound fees, maybe 3 if the impound considers the trailer and the 4 wheeler as 2 separate vehicles.

Fuckin' dumbass, it should be common sense to like not drive a motor vehicle on a walking track at a public park.

Whatever, not my problem.

I don't give them my license, I only need to show it to them. They can copy down the relevant information needed to verify it's legitimacy the same way they do when they take it.

I don't need to roll down my window, I only need to communicate with them. They can speak up and I am more than capable of yelling so they don't misunderstand anything. An open window is not needed unless someone plans on reaching through it, which neither of us need to do.

I don't need to give them my insurance card, they only need to know it's current and for this vehicle. Again they can copy down relevant information and call the insurance company later, which they weren't going to do anyway.

I don't need to tell them where I was, or where I was going, as it's none of their business and not relevant to the stop, which was likely for failing to signal properly, or speeding due to a missed sign.

There's plenty you dont HAVE to tell them, give them, or show them, but if you're going to do any of the above, know your state and local laws regarding these, and don't be intentionally rude, since they're already going to be pissy.

Also note: it's much easier to get through this sort of interaction if you're white. We all know cops are racist shitbags just looking for an excuse.

I am not a lawyer, this is not legal advice, just someone who is tired of being targeted in the areas around Columbus Ohio that are known for pulling people over for the slightest of infractions in order to go fishing for a reason to arrest someone.

Don't worry, their buddy's were just up the road bored out of their mind needing some excuse to get together and pow-wow. I'm sure you're fine!

Usually, the others are just bored, so they show up to hang out and shoot the shit. Of course, when you have a group of them, there's a good chance one of them will decide he has to prove what a man he is in front of the other dipshits, and you're the guitar he wants to tune up.

And even if you don't take a beating, or worse, all your neighbors are driving by, seeing all those cops around your car, and immediately presume you've been stopped for DUI, or domestic terrorism, or drug distribution, etc.

Now you're the guy that everybody side eyes at the block party, because "you remember when he got stopped by the police, and there was at least a dozen cars there? He must have did something really bad, that's for sure. I heard it was suspicion of murder, but he got off on a technicality."
