Great Lakes region, USA. April 2026.
I was paddling around a local river and coasted into a nice little turtle cove. There were hundreds of painteds all sun bathing. Some of them scattered when I got near, while others let me get really close. If you looked at the river close enough you'd see dozens of little turtle heads poking out watching me intently.
