Hate to break it to you, but that's not a train set - or at least it definitely doesn't look like one.

Looks like a generic slot-car racing set (think Scalextric) to me.

it's not about gender. every adult is a grown child, some just internalize that they are not allowed to feel childlike joy anymore

This for sure. My Dad is like that. He's either full productivity doing something for somebody, or switched off entirely watching the TV. He sees basically anything else as wasteful, which I find sad, as I'd love to find something we could do together just for the fun of it.
