/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

The remainder of his speech:

You acknowledge their sentience, but you ignore their personal liberties and freedom. Order a man to hand his child over to the state? Not while I am his captain. If you wish, you can accompany us to Starfleet, where we shall see... [then Troi delivers the bad news]

Good ep. Moral dilemmas, philosophy and that meme of Lal failing to catch the ball.

Also Lal giving Riker a taste of the other side of the coin:

Guinan neglected to mention the mating rituals of Klingons.

I'm only just realizing that she gives strong "Small Wonder" vibes. iykyk

Hadn't thought about that show in ages.

Strangely, in the next season (s4e3) when Data finally meets his dying creator, he never thinks to mention Lal, despite the many dialogue lead-ins about procreation and disappointment over Data's joining Starfleet instead of following in Noonien Soong's cyberneticist footsteps.

Then all the way to Picard season 3, she just gets a quick name drop among the other personalities that went into the golum.

Is there ANY Situation you don't have a Meme Response for?

"His hands -- were moving faster than I could see, trying to stay ahead of each breakdown."

That delivery with the pause by Nicolas Coster hit hard.

That part is where his character finally turns from just another badmiral to a so-so human. Still a dick for not ever intending to listen to their arguments.

Certainly. But the admirals and higher ups had to always be the "bad guy" to move the plot and give the crew something to push against. A "real" Starfleet would hopefully be better managed, especially when it's not just humans running the show.
