MODERATORS
Mathematical analysis estimated on how long the logo goes before hitting the corner have ranged anywhere from 2 to 45 minutes based on a number of different variables.
TIL, I just assumed it never hit the corner.
Was the exact specification of the screensaver in the DVD standards, or did many/most/all vendors just ship the reference implementation to cut costs? Did the licensing agreement mandate that the DVD logo was to be displayed unchanged, preventing them from swapping in their brand logo?
My guess is that there are a handful of generic DVD player controller chips that everyone used, and they just tended to have that style of screensaver built-in.
