Welcome to AltMedia House.

I founded this community to assist in the democratization of media by promoting voices that are suppressed in mainstream media publications, especially pro-Palestinian voices.

This community is 'AltMedia' in the Mearsheimer and Walt sense. Not the Richard Spencer sense.

A few days ago, a document surfaced online. It was a leaked police memo outlining a joint operation between the Bolivian police and the United States military to capture former president Evo Morales and, according to multiple reports, massacre the villagers who stood in their way. The response from the Bolivian people was immediate and defiant. Indigenous rural communities surrounded Morales’ residence to protect him. Workers seized Chimoré airport near his home, blocking the runway to prevent American planes or helicopters from landing. This is not a conspiracy theory. This is a people fighting for their lives and the Western media is barely whispering about it.

Is this real? Why have I not seen videos?

[–] RunawayFixer@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It appears that Evo Morales used an invented USA threat to motivate his supporters. All video "evidence" is of his supporters doing stuff as prevention of that invented threat, not in reaction to an actual USA kidnapping attempt.

There is an actual Bolivian threat for Eva Morales though: Bolivian courts had first ordered his arrest in 2024 because of a rape case, but Morales holed up in a regional stronghold to avoid appearing before court. Recently the Bolivian government has been making new moves to make an actual arrest, which Morales appears to want to thwart by rallying his supporters again.

I don't see where it "appears" Morales "invented" anything. The USA kidnapped Maduro and invented charges against him.

It's interesting how you automatically assume the United States narrative, it's not like the United States ever lied and made up allegations to coup or foment coups in the global East or South, or Mideast, amirite? Oh wait... 🙄

Yeah wtf this would be world news ( just another on the pile of Trump’s terribleness but at least as bad as other recent events)

Edit: there is definitely a ton of chaos there now, protests against the new president as their economy sucks and made use by the Iran war spiking fuel prices: Banks close branches in tense Bolivia, diplomats call for calm - https://www.reuters.com/business/finance/banks-close-branches-tense-bolivia-diplomats-call-calm-2026-05-19/

News like USA getting our asses handed to us by Iran? Like how many aircraft were lost? Perhaps news like how we couped various states? News like how US sanctions starved Cuba and DPRK? Palestinian Genocide? The kind of news bought and paid for MSM never reports until people who live there or outside read actual news from local papers and keep posting videos, photos, articles (until states kill all the reporters like Israel does on behalf of the United States)?

That kind of world news?

[–] Cybersec@piefed.social 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yes, that kind of news. I can’t tell if your tone is directed at me for wondering for more details or at the world?

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Funnily enough, I work an extremely physically punishing job, I posted the same Western link when I had a chance to see your slow-federating post. But if you read on lemmy.ml and lemmygrad, you find all sorts of news articles from credible sites that aren't in bed to carry the Western narrative. El País, mronline, Middle East Eye, and multiple others.

Yes those are sites pieFED, Nazi.world, feds.it.works, Midwest.social censor. The news articles are solid, analyses detailed, annotated, and cogent, coherent, and verifiable.

[–] Cybersec@piefed.social 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

OK cool I’ll check them out thank you

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 1 points 3 days ago

Excellent! I don't expect credulity, merely a suspension of disbelief, until you have time to thoroughly investigate outside the Western narrative.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 0 points 4 days ago

Maybe because you didn't read the article, with videos inside.
