We have people literally trying to tear the country apart, and people who think these are "the good guys".

I can sympathize with Quebec, who have been a bit of a "minority province" for a long time (i.e., being the only Francophone-first province, etc.) In fact, they seem to get some things better than many other provinces, so I could also see arguments for them being held back culturally in some ways.

But Alberta seems more like they just think Canada's Centre-or-Right federal government isn't far enough to the right? Or they think they're paying too much in federal taxes? I don't get it.

Alberta has a lot of cultural cross-pollination from the US thanks to the oil industry, which really explains everything you need to know about the province.
