For stuff that's neat. Neat article? Neat video? Neat pic of a bug you saw? All good. Neat meme? Ehhh... take it to the meme subs.

Somewhat skeptical after the whole direwolf debacle, but it makes a lot more sense to de-extinct stuff that's been gone for 500 years than it is for stuff that's been gone for 50,000

If I were a dodo being de-extincted at the current point in this timeline, I'd be like, "...you brought me back for this?"

The org that was financed by Epstein?

[–] Stern@lemmy.world 1 points 13 hours ago

It was also financed by the CIA as well via In-Q-Tel. Leaves a bitter taste to be sure, but what they're doing is interesting.

And then what? Put them in a zoo? Put them in factory farms? Release them that some assholes csn hunt them? No one gives a shit avout the animals we already have

What's the point?

Let's stop focusing on bringing back dead species, and instead focus on like, not destroying everything on earth?

"Hello dodos, we brought you back so that you can be hunted again by psycho poachers, all while the weather cooks you alive before a tornado throws you into a forest fire. You're welcome!"

The Ugly Chickens by Howard Waldrop

A riveting science fiction story about the search for the last dodoes.
