I mean the skeptics annotated books are great but they usually are around logical fallacies or just horrible things. Honestly the only reason I have read as much of the bible as I have is due to having to and I can't imagine reading it now outside of looking up a few things I remember. Tried to do the koran on my own but its like a throwback to the old testament and just a chore.

From Reddit
As a community with an interest in providing the best resources to its members, the following wiki links are provided as historical reference until we can establish our own.
as in comparing them to other historical books of the time?
Not strictly, but I wouldn't mind anything on that.
what do you mean by "no bs" when atheists believe most of the Bible to be bs?
BS as in for example claiming that the “knocking star” in the Quran was Muhammad knowing about pulsars, or that Zechariah 9:9 was a fulfilled messianic prophecy because Jesus rode a donkey. I'm an atheist myself, I just want to learn more about theology.
There's better fictional literature out there. Learn about Middle Earth instead, much more beneficial to humanity lmfao
I enjoyed Thomas Sheehan’s course at Stanford on the historical Jesus. It’s a little pro-Christian, but I think does a relatively good job of sticking to the historical account. I also enjoyed Alger’s translation and commentary on Genesis.
The best resource is yourself. Pick up some history books and religious studies books and read through the spiritual books. It's not hard.
Edit: not trying to be rude, but encouraging. It's easy to learn!
What history books? What religious studies books? That is what I'm asking for.
Well, I didn't suggest any, because I was not quite sure what you were looking for. I am a Christian, so I inherently cannot recommend anything to you in good conscious as my texts are more than likely, biased toward my beliefs. I can if you'd like, but I thought that was not what you were looking for.
Honestly, just reach out to a local university professor. Send them an e-mail and ask your questions. They will have more adequate resources than I could ever give you. Same with a local library!
Have a great day!
