brazil is currently ruled by a socdem administration, as in an enlightened centrist government poorly threading the line between the overt fascism taking over the country and some actual humanity for the people who are demanding it.
i say poorly because christofascism isn't a line that should be thread at all in the name of the powerful few but here we are.
so that means there's a lot of saying good things publicly but acting on their interests under the table, or trading favors with nazis. a recent example is trading the passing of the work hours reduction bill the people are pushing for some egregious tax and oversight exemptions for the church with the reactionary congress representing the fascist christian and comprador elites.
this is why it looks conflicting. it's kind of a mess, really.
