Ayoub Junaid, seven, given new pair but needs surgery as Gaza’s children remain unable to access treatment

A video of a seven-year-old Palestinian boy in Gaza who suffers from a severe visual impairment crying over his shattered glasses has drawn widespread attention across social and international media.

The footage of Ayoub Junaid has shone a light on the plight of the many visually impaired children in Gaza who, because of Israel’s blockade and the devastation caused by the war, have been unable to access eye examinations, corrective lenses or specialist ophthalmic surgery.

After the clip was viewed by tens of millions of people, Ayoub received a new pair of glasses. This good news, however, does not solve the underlying problem, as he urgently needs surgery.

This war is so fucking stupid and evil... Of course the media making the show out of one kid crying to the camera is a propaganda piece. But the reality is that all the kids that were already killed during that war can't be filmed crying, so the reality is even more bleak than the propaganda piece... Also out of all current conflicts, this war has the highest number of killed journalists by far, so even if someone had anything more representative, there is a huge chance he or she is already dead.

How fucking evil someone must be to make entire world* cheer for the side represented by the terrorists?

(* Entire world? No! One small city of Washington DC and a few hundred billionaires are cheering the "righteous" side, and are sending all the weapons that were too expensive to waste them by helping Ukraine defend itself)... end of the rant

*genocide

It's not really a war in the typical sense.

Not much sadder than a kid losing his glasses, but when people hear about the other things that happened, they'll be outraged I bet.

Sometimes it's easier to relate to things like this, because we can't relate with the much worse things that are happening, cause we can't quite relate enough to process it

So many stories from Palestine have been a million times worse than this... And this gets picked up?

Sigh. I mean, better than nothing I guess.
