What is global news?

Something that happened or was uncovered recently anywhere in the world. It doesn't have to have global implications. Just has to be informative in some way.

Post guidelines

Title formatPost title should mirror the news source title. If you don't like the title of article, look for an alternative source instead of editorializing it.
URL formatPost URL should be the original link to the article (even if paywalled) and archived copies left in the body. It allows avoiding duplicate posts when cross-posting.
[Opinion] prefixOpinion (op-ed) articles must use [Opinion] prefix before the title. Opinion articles refer to articles that their publisher doesn't explictly endorse.
Country prefixCountry prefix can be added to the title with a separator (|, :, etc.) if the news is from a local publisher who doesn't clearly mention the country.

No, he didn’t. If you ever think that Trump would ever admit defeat, someone bashed a hole in your head and your brains are leaking out.

Maybe he had a bad day, but Trump will never ever admit defeat, not ever

As far as I can tell, the Iranians figured out a way to make giving them everything they want sound like a US victory, so Trump agreed to it.

Shows what you can do when your diplomats have PhDs and the opposing side has room temperature IQs.

the opposing side has room temperature IQs.

You're giving them a LOT of grace. I'd say they're on par with your common house plant.

He'll just pretend the deal says something other than what it actually says and scream fake news about anything else. Like he does with everything.

I thought it was interesting that the headline came from Sky, which was a News Corp company under Rupert Murdoch and known for being biased towards Trump. I didn’t know they were bought by Comcast in 2017, and apparently are planned to be spun off rather than be included in the purchase of NBCUniversal to Larry Ellison via Paramount.

Huh, I didn’t know that either (the sold to comcast in 2017 part). That is … kinda interesting?

But all that Larry Ellison business is still part of the same incestuous soup of Trump cocksuckery, so…. Eh?

Let’s see where the chips fall

To be perfectly honest, when it comes to British media shenanigans, my current concern is what happens to the Doctor Who franchise. Boy oh boy did the beebs really fuck that up.

Uh-oh:

Upon arrival, he said he was "very happy" with the deal he's agreed to with Iran. It will be signed in Switzerland on Friday, with JD Vance set to attend on behalf of the US.

and:

There is a huge amount at stake in the diplomacy that now follows, which will be fiendishly difficult.

They're sending in the pope killer to stall for time. Hopefully the Iranian negotiators don't have any health conditions that could be set off by meeting JD Vance.

"the agreement has only proved this war was one of the greatest strategic blunders in US history". There is a long list. All from his 2 terms in office

Cause the Vietnam War went so well.

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yet somehow still far better than the Iran war...

I hate that bastard in the oval as much as the next guy but you need a serious reality check if you think this is worse than Vietnam, which killed millions of people across Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia over almost 20 years, just because you're paying more at the gas pump.

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

In terms of "Strategic blunders" I for sure think it's worse.

Trump is under to much pressure to re-open Hormuz. He will accept any deal even if it is just status quo. He NEEDS to be the apparent winner no matter the outcome.

[–] fizzle@quokk.au 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Hol up. Sky news is supposed to express breathless support for Trump.

[–] foggianism@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Only if he dances to Israel's fiddle. As soon as he gets out of line he gets humilitated by them, of course.

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 1 points 1 day ago
