Boycott US

Overview:

The community dedicated to boycotting the US until they stop fascism, restore full democracy and start following international law.

Americans have a moral obligation to resist Donald Trump and project 2025 at every turn.

America is a flawed democracy currently being ruled by oligarchs. Stop the backslide! Dont let America become the next Hungary.

America needs to challenge the court rulings of citizens united v. fec and shelby county v. holder, protect the media, implement independent district drawing, and the single transferable vote so they don't end up having people stay home in life-changing elections because they cannot vote for their favourite candidate.

If you pretend 33% are Albertans it all makes sense.

Time to tie their level of disapproval with their travel habits.

The U.S. is dead to me, it’ll take generations to repair the damage they’ve done.

America took over for Britain as the seat of power for white christian capitalist hegemony; they have been rotten since 1776.

They were already on life support with me in the '90s. Now they're dead and buried. Permanently.

This 33% number is a year old, it's not representive of today, something tells me it's even lower now considering Americas ever worsening behavior.

What is wrong with those 33%?

Racism. The primary motivating force behind the current US administration is making racism public policy again.

The Canadians who envy the US are the ones who think immigration is ruining our country.

I really wish I could disagree, but there's a reason I'm not living in Canada.

So, that tells me that Canada has about the same percentage of right-wing shitheads. I bet there are statistics on the lowest amount of right-wing shitheads there can be in a country and it's about 32-36%.

The older I get, the more rational re-education camps seem. Is there a more humane way to stop a bitter under-educated minority from constantly fighting the forward progress of humanity?

Except there are currently re-education camps (red states) created by the republicans. That's the problem with that stuff.

[–] Washedupcynic@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

Where are there "re-education camps" in the United States you speak of? There are camps for people picked up by ice/immigration, I promise you those people aren't being re-educated. There are tons of for profit prisons too, but based on recidivism rates I doubt they are very successful at re-education. The only camps being built in the US are for punishment.

[–] TimothyOilypants@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

Yeah...people in reeducation camps don't get to participate in politics or democracy...

TIL 33% of us are morons, not that it surprises me much.

Same, it's not like anything has changed. They've always been like this.

What percentage of Americans currently view the United States favorably?

[–] Dr_Fetus_Jackson@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Imagine that... 🙄
