Will Russia strike the ports?

They have struck ports, docked ships and port infrastructure before at certain times. They don't do it regularly though so this might escalate in the future to become more frequent. There is some pressure on the government in Russia to start interdicting Ukrainian shipping altogether, but so far Russia has agreed to let shipping through. One of those things where the hardliners accuse the Kremlin of being too soft and permissive for no good reason other than to "appear reasonable" for international audiences, despite the fact that the West will never give Russia credit for holding back.

I'm beginning to have the notion the hardliners are correct.

It's pretty much public knowledge at this point that Ukraine uses "civilian" shipping to disguise and smuggle in weapons and ammunition, including parts used to commit terror attacks in Russia, but Russia would still look bad if they started to blow them up. The West would accuse them of trying to starve and genocide Ukraine. But maybe Russia, like Iran's IRGC, should just stop giving a shit what the West says about it.

But Putin is as much if not more of a liberal than Iran's reformists are, and i don't think he'll ever change.

I mean, Zelensky openly says he would like to assassinate Putin and literally tried it at least twice, but Putin still refuses to "break the rules" and target any of Kiev's political leadership because he promised Zelensky at the beginning of the SMO when Zelensky was shitting his pants hiding in a bunker that he would not be targeted.

If he was American he would be one of those insufferable "When They Go Low We Go High" Democrats obsessed with civility and procedure.

Can't deny he's gotten a rather sweet lifestyle from it.
