This is a big reason I would love to see Ukraine win the war. I kind of suspect, that Russia support for parties like the AfD is a huge reason for their success.

Another huge part is the support by Germany's elites. The rich love the AfD and continue to support it in legal and illegal ways, ranging from legal and illegal donations to massive support from the corporate press, especially the Springer papers. Sadly, none of that would vanish even if Russian support vanished over night.
