If you want to eat raw cookie dough more safely, you can always pasteurize the flour by heating it to at least 160F, this usually takes about 10 minutes in a 350F oven. Or just do what I do and yolo that raw cookie dough right into your mouth regardless.

It is both.
Though most home cooks aren't following any food safety guidelines for raw flour. They toss it all over the place, all over everything, and only the stuff that goes in the oven gets sterilized.
Many people also consume raw and undercooked eggs on a regular basis.
We all take risks.
Is the risk really that high? I am normally someone who thinks twice about something like this. So far I have survived! Yolo for real.
The other one my wife brought to my attention that I never thought of before her was Thanksgiving dinner with the turkey and it being stuffed with stuffing. She won't touch it and we make a 2nd no filled turkey batch just for her. Is it really a problem though! No way ill give that up either, there is nothing better.
