I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that most if not all original devs from arkane don't work there anymore.

  1. So just find them, hire them, poach those that still work in arkane.
  2. Found a new studio, call it 4rkane.
  3. Make dishonored 3 and call it honored 3.
  4. Profit.

Arkane, and id refugees, should band together and make the single most kick ass game of all time.

May Microsoft let Arkane go. The world needs Dishonored 3.

That's is one of the few games that would get me elden ring levels of hyped, if its the same team making it ofc

Imagine buying Arkane Studios and forcing them to do Redfall.

And Microsoft!

It's nested enshittification.

(Though to be fair, Redfall was BGS's fault).

Probably not for sale since they will want to simply lock the IP in the graveyard rather than let someone else create something with it.

Colantonio’s question of ‘how much’ might be in jest given the emoji use

Nonono, i will help pitch in $5 for it to happen. Arkane need to come back, immersive sim need to come back.

I'm not so sure it's a joke. He just played through Dishonored with some of the devs and uploaded it to YT, and it sounded a lot like the team enjoyed looking back not just for nostalgia, but also a reminder of the kind of work they got to do back then. I would not be surprised if that reunion brought back some real ambitions to take back control of their work.

Very insightful series, here is the first episode if anyone is interested

If they’re just discarding it, why wouldn’t they? Arkane was good. Let it live again.

Then, Spiders, hopefully. I’d like a finished Greedfall 2.

The whole reason they bought it in the first place was so it would either make them money, or die.

They’re not going to set it free to do well again, they’d lose money that was never theirs to begin with!

They can probably claim it as a loss for taxes and they would be a lot

[–] definitemaybe@lemmy.ca 2 points 18 hours ago

Sure, but if they sold it, they'd have less losses which is strictly better.

"While Double Fine and Compulsion Games have been handed back to management"

what does that mean?

[–] apotheotic@beehaw.org 6 points 1 day ago

Double fine and compulsion are no longer part of Xbox and double fine and compulsion will retain the IP of anything they made while at xbox

Unfortunately, I don't see that being cheap. Glad to see it though. With everything we've seen in recent years of companies get bought and shoves through the money press, I've been wondering why we don't see more titles like this. I know it's all about ✨money ✨ but if you're already shuttering a studio, why not sell the title rights? I'm sure the poor layoffs often wouldn't mind a chance at putting the studio back in the spot the corpos ripped it out of.

"How about 5 bucks and a stick of gum for that thing you're about to put in the bin?"

"Alright, weirdo"
