Fitst of all: very cool project! And also I know that this is the selfhosted community, but can someone explain to me the benefits of a server in my pocket compared to just having all the media directly on my phone? I mean I have a 1TB microSD in there, can open nearly everything with VLC and have not bottleneck in the wireless connection.

It's so other people can watch and stream your media from their devices as well.
or if you have other devices like laptop you can access media from it too
Ok, that's pretty cool!
I have a keychain-sized portable server based on a Banana Pi M4 Zero that I thought was compact, but this one wins lol. Mine does a bit more than that, but I've got a smidge more RAM and horsepower to play with than an ESP32. Still, that one does a lot of what mine does (books, movies, tv shows, music) with much less resources. Impressive!
Maybe I'll do a write-up here on my travel server if people are interested.
Edit: By popular demand, I did a write-up: https://startrek.website/post/41991401

+1 for the write-up
Fuck yes we're interested. Go :)
Do it!
ESP-32 black magic
For their size, they are surprisingly powerful and very versatile. The Nomad project you posted looks intriguing. I could see that being useful when we're out on the pontoon because the CD player has long since died and there is zero I want to listen to on terra-radio. He even includes the NomadCase.stl file. Sweet! Bookmarked. Thanks for sharing.

Narrator: but they will never returned to that bookmark...
You'd be surprised. I do have a projects folder that is large. However, I do get around to most of it.
You're welcome :)
I'm looking to see just how far this femto-server idea can go. Scoping it out now.
