News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

So my username on reddit was u/IAmUser1234567 I had 17k+ Karma, i didn't do anything they just banned my account. Now i guess they have created a digital fingerprint or marked my ip address, because if i create a new account it gets banned almost instantly.

I am loving lemmy(using Voyager on my android phone) so much. Reddit anyways now just contains shity cringe content, it is becoming like insta, I am happy to join lemmy family :)

Welcome. I've found lemmy/fediverse to be so much better. Half of the subreddits on reddit are just bots posting (or people who post like bots)

[–] EvasiveSpecies@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Welcome here! Got banned from Reddit as well, many others here too. Their bans and strike system sucks and it seems near impossible to appeal.

I got at least 3 dozen IP bans, they are movre clever now than before. My guess is they are using Pixel or similar because changing IP doesn't work on my main OS account like it used to. They nuked 5 long standing accounts in an hour.

So I made an alternate log in account on the same PC and I'm in. Still VPN'ing. My concern is Windows being Windows will start linking/fingerprinting on all local accounts into one.

I will say the last round was my last, the account I made is for the few small hobby subs I was part of to keep tabs on once a week or so...

There's that and they can fingerprint by the monitor size too. Combining that with the headers your browser sends helps a lot. It's easier on mobile though because everybody has more different kinds of display sizes

lol I have a 49" curve, I bet I was easy to pick out...

I'll check out the link, thanks!

[–] sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 days ago

Probably not from that alone but by referencing it to the subs you visit, yeah that one would be a little less common. 👍

We're happy to have you here

I guess they found out you lied and you aren't really user #1234567.

Reddit sucks. They seem to automate bans like Threads does? I cant even create an account on Threads without it getting banned instantly.

Its like these sites dont want users?

[–] magnue@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (2 children)

My theory is that they are fully aware that the main use of their site now is training data for AI. So their 'customers' require very clean content. Things like sarcastically inciting violence are a no-go.

Doesn't explain why they haven't done anything about the bots though.

[–] Cybersteel@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

The bots are there to farm engagement so that it looks good to their investors.

Oh that is me in a nut shell, also pro 1A/2A and loved to call out the BS

This makes way to much sense, I bet youre dead on.

[–] TIEPilot@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Bots post what they want for the rest of the sheep to think this is what the masses want/think.

[–] SarahFromOz@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

So bots are allowed but real users get banned? Make it make sense!

[–] TIEPilot@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

What did the user say to upset the algorithm? If you tow the line, get a couple 3/7 day bans for stepping out of line and you cool your speech you are exactly they want on the website.

If youre like me, no they don't want someone that can call out the BS and the lies. Older and has seen these games of the media and government playout before and call them out. You catch the B& hammer.

Carlin said it best:

Governments don’t want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. That is against their interests. They want obedient workers, people who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork. And just dumb enough to passively accept it.

Reddit is part of that.

I am very much sorry to know that, heartfelt... and I hope you will find peace, dear @IAmUser1234567@lemmy.zip ...

I do believe it's impossible to get unbanned. Not only that, but they don't even explain the reason, too...
For years, they don't respond for my time-ivesting appeals requests, and I still have no idea why and when I got shadow-banned:

It might be their sorrowful automation system at the start of them trying "AI" and I got into a list by a mistake, yet no one ever cared or will care, I believe, because it's Reddit - one of the most popular forum-like social marketed out there.

I've invested ~340 Euro into the account at Reddit giving awards mostly, and a few NFT avatars, and for what?
I lost hope in Reddit, and won't consider their support or anything serious from that point, unfortunately...
Such a... sorrow... So much of human priceless precious finite life time... is...

For what indeed...

[–] Blackfeathr@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

It's truly baffling that people would willingly give money to reddit lmao
