I'm not homophobic, I'm only misogynistic, I swear

Oh yeah, gay sex is overly feminized now. That’s the problem lol

Yeah, in ancient Greece, pederasty was totally non-gay & non-pedophilic.

The old queers I talked to before I became an old queer myself used to tell me that that gay men were referred to as "temperamental" or "special" rather than gay or queer and that they would take "weekend constitutionals" as a way of making the gay label & behavior more socially acceptable to the straight people at the time who were more accepting than most.

Couple that w knowing closeted and semi-closeted queers in my time who would go to ANY AND ALL lengths at all to insist that they didn't have gay sex despite the undeniably well known penchant for any type of men for sex and it makes me question the validity of that and other understandings of gay behavior in ancient Greece.

Modern gay sex is too gay. Gay sex needs to go back to being manly and hetero. I don't wash my ass because that would be gay.

I’m so confused. What does this say about me as a lesbian man?

[–] kuiskaaja@lemmy.ml 5 points 23 hours ago

well, the word "lesbian" derives from the greek island of "lesbos", but i'm not smart enough to know what to make of that

I'm about to take this too seriously but humor me

To be clear homosexuality in ancient greece WAS different from homosexuality today. Penetrative sex between men was considered demeaning to the male in the submissive role. Male homosexual relations were largely in the form pederasty in which an upperclass man would take a young boy as an apprentice, teach him the ways of proper greek life, and occasionally oil up the child's thighs and use them for sexual gratification. Whether or not this can be considered consensual in their cultural context is really ambiguous.

This combined with the fact that elite marriages were largely between men in their thirties and young teenage girls suggests that pederasty could easily have been more akin to pedophilia than homosexuality.

This is not to say that homosexual relationships between fully grown men did not exist. They almost certainly did but were largely socially rejected within the ruling class meaning exstensive record of this is not available.

Anyway basically I am saying that these guys are kinda saying pedophilia is manly actually and I think it says a lot about them.

Bet none of these 3 morons can read a word in ancient Greek and yet here we are having to bear their opinions.
