People will tell you that just doing more things will reawaken your motivation. This is true, sorta, but if you're completely unwound to the point where basic tasks aren't getting accomplished, you should make sure you go through the same steps over the course of 2-5 days.
-
capture all tasks or reminders you will need in the same place, which is reviewed as the first part of the process. Just list everything & don't hover until you run out of tasks to note down. If something would take less than 2 min just go do it immediately
-
clarify those captured tasks & decide if they are reference material, something you need to wait for someone else on, something you can't do yet, a day-specific action, a project composed of multiple steps, or just an uncommitted idea.
-
organize: bmake separate digital or even physical inboxes to collect these categories. There are only like ten overall categories for things in my life like that
-
review: basically just an organize step done on the stuff already filed through those steps. I set meta-reminders to do these steps & then
-
engage your inbox tasks depending on context (you win)
Anyone who recognizes the source of my methods (businessslop) here stay quiet it helped me quite a lot & I haven't changed the overall map of this for years. To quote the source "if you find yourself listening to distsnt sirens, wondering where they are headed" (I don't think I have ever not done this, & my mom is even worse about it) this method will be very helpful to you
To give you an example, books I want to read are repeating daily reminders flagged "later" that have subtasks which are the actual project "finish & annotate Title"
