I'm not even joking. Once you start using Ocucor, all other weapons will feel like junk.

Ocucor creates up to four tendrils on kill which automatically aim at the nearest enemy. You basically just hold the trigger and run and it kills everything in your path.

It has a new augment mod in the current Nightwave that adds up 240% CC and SC while reloading it's magazine for each kill.

It has good Riven dispo as well in case you want to get one. I highly recommend getting Punch Through and Multishot on it.

All combined, once you start using Ocucor, your aim will deteriorate, you'll get lazy, and other weapons will feel underwhelming.

You have been warned!

Will note here, without a killer riven, it does fall off in steel path as you run out of ammo unless you do the whole weapon swap mag reload thing.

[-] CheeseNoodle@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

The point of the augment as that it reloads the weapon on kill without disabling tendrils, combined with any source of ammo mutation is enough to wipe level 200 steel path without even aiming.

[-] TelosBoltor@dormi.zone 2 points 1 year ago

Sure sure, but getting that initial kill to build up the stacks can sometimes be fun in later level steel path, at least i struggled with it with yareli in duviri.

[-] McRibbles@dormi.zone 2 points 1 year ago

Can confirm, feels honestly awful trying to get it going even in basic SP Pavlov (125~, was trying out a Master Summons moa build and decided to do a quick test of the Ocucor for fun), the low base stats really hinder it. Maybe it'll get a Tauforged variant with Sentient liches in 2027.

[-] TelosBoltor@dormi.zone 2 points 1 year ago

I havent tested it myself, but this arcane adds flat damage on status proc, which might be the solution https://warframe.fandom.com/wiki/Cascadia_Empowered easily farmed from zariman

[-] xuerian@dormi.zone 4 points 1 year ago

I am surprised people evaluate guns on SP without one of the arcanes equipped, they're such a big damage increase.

[-] McRibbles@dormi.zone 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I had Cascadia Flare on, for the record. Full build, Sentient Surge, all that. It indeed felt terrible to use initially and really struggled for the first kill, but was fine once it started getting tendrils.

Edit: Did a quick test run of SP Circulus. Levels 180-200, for the record. Did absolutely NOTHING to enemies at first as it lacked Galv Shot, Galv Diffusion, and the Ocucor's tendrils. Again, worked fine when it got going, but you definitely need some form of strip or else any other competent player will make your life getting that first kill hell. Basic Viral+Heat build with Galv Shot & Diffusion, the two primed crit mods, and Cascadia Flare & Sentient Surge as previously mentioned. Take out Shot, shove in a bane, might do marginally better for the first kill but I don't think it'd be to such a degree that it'd really make a difference.

[-] xuerian@dormi.zone 2 points 1 year ago

Aha, fair enough. Yeah. Lots of ramp up on the gun.

I almost always run either strip frame or unairu, so I tend not to run into the hard cold start situation, but totally valid.

[-] TelosBoltor@dormi.zone 2 points 1 year ago

I am using secondary encumber rn hoping that it would boost the galv mod, but it didn't feel too impactful so I'ma try either the heat arcane or the flat damage one

[-] Zansacu@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I won't lie and say it's perfect as it is. The low base stats surely impacts the performance, but it can be worked around with Galv mods, Arcanes, and Warframe abilities.

Mine is built for CC, CD, and Heat damage with Viral added through Nourish. It has Cascadia Flare and a +Damage +CC +PT Riven. That PT helps a lot, even though the homing feature doesn't support it, because the angle of the Tendrils allows them to hit multiple enemies and kill them quicker.

It struggles with Overguard so that might need a melee or a primary nudge sometimes but it can otherwise melt through lvl 200 Steel Path enemies like lightsaber through butter.

[-] xuerian@dormi.zone 4 points 1 year ago

Haha, yeah, it do be like that.

It's fun though. The upside is I have plenty of options if I want to kill just as much stuff. So I can use it some, and then I can go use other things.

Still a huge fan of the Sepulcrum, and it delivers whenever I need a heavy hitter.

[-] GreasyTengu@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Sepulcrum is probably the most satisfying secondary to use.

[-] Halasham@dormi.zone 2 points 1 year ago

Can you elaborate on the Sepulcrum? Just checked by Codex and I did max one but I have no memory of it and back then, apparently, decided against keeping it. This wouldn't be the first foolish decision I've made about what should be kept v chucked.

[-] xuerian@dormi.zone 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

So the Sepulcrum is a Bolter from 40k - literally, because a 40k designer worked on Deimos.

It shoots slowly, it reloads slowly, it fires two heavy-damage shots, has great damage/crit/status stats, and it has a mark-and-fire lockon mode you charge up by getting kills.

It feels a bit bad until you get some sort of reload speed on it.

Here's what I use: https://overframe.gg/build/new/5123/sepulcrum/?bs=WzEsNTEyMywzMCwxLFtbMzk1LDUsM10sWzU1MTgsMTAsMl0sWzQwMiw1LDFdLFs0MTMsMTAsMV0sWzQwMCwzLDFdLFs0MDUsMywxXSxbNTUxNywxMCwxXSxbNDI1LDEwLDFdLFs0NjYsMywxXSxbNTUwOCw1LDBdXV0=

I just love the sound, look, and feel - and it does tons of damage.

[-] Halasham@dormi.zone 2 points 1 year ago

Interesting, I can see why I may have underestimated it. A slow hammer of a gun usually isn't my style. If a weapon is going to be slow I generally want it to make whatever I've pointed it at go boom. Still sounds like it might be worth a second chance sometime.

[-] xuerian@dormi.zone 1 points 1 year ago

It'll do that, yeah. You can mod in some fire rate and use primed crit instead of slow crit to make it significantly faster.

[-] The_Vampire@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Eh, I used it and honestly it was okay (for reference I don't use Rivens), but the ramp-up is a real pain on Steel Path. It's not really that much better than the Tenet Cycron or Kuva Nukor, even with no reloading, and the benefit of those other weapons is that they don't need to ramp up as hard and you can't mess the damage up by accidentally reloading. The augment mod makes it a much better gun, but it's not king of the hill and isn't a ruiner of the game. Ultimately, it's just a matter of preference.

[-] TheFizio@dormi.zone 1 points 1 year ago

Also...

Do not, EVER, use Target Fixation on Zephyr, it's so good it'll ruin the game lol

[-] yewcat@dormi.zone 1 points 1 year ago

Hmm this is how I've been feeling about the Torid Incarnon. I got a killer riven and it instantly zaps large groups of steel path enemies.

Funny how they nerfed AOE and buffed chain weapons.
