Actually, everything Meta is terrible.

Fuck off Mark.

[-] Boozilla@lemmy.world 16 points 10 months ago

Exactly. Zuckerberg is a POS. Folks are only talking about this because X/Twitter is such a dumpster fire, not because Threads is good.

[-] jameseb@lemm.ee 7 points 10 months ago

What's sad is that people aren't talking about Mastodon nearly as much as they are talking about Threads and X. It just doesn't seem to get much publicity outside of the fediverse.

[-] mPony@kbin.social 4 points 10 months ago

well, why would people who use Fediverse options talk about using those options on non-Fediverse platforms? Other than the occasional "hey I use Mastodon and it's great." Not the kind of thing you'd talk about all the time.

[-] jameseb@lemm.ee 2 points 10 months ago

I can understand why people wouldn't specifically talk about the fediverse on other sites. It just seems like there is a lot of coverage of X and Meta in the news, but there doesn't seem to have been even a passing mention of fediverse sites in most of what I've seen. I guess the more established social media sites are still a lot more significant than fediverse alternatives though.

There is one undeniable non-terribleness in Threads - it is not Xitter.

Yep, apart from Oculus. Makes sim racing 🤌for the money, I haven't looked at FB for a decade. Awful.

Strong "my mum says I'm handsome" vibes.

[-] DieguiTux8623@feddit.it 14 points 10 months ago

In Southern Italy there's a saying that goes like "every cockroach is beautiful to its mother" which perfectly summarizes the idea.

[-] AnokLola@lemm.ee 6 points 10 months ago

In Egypt it's"Every monkey is a gazelle to its own mother"

[-] DieguiTux8623@feddit.it 2 points 10 months ago

We're neighbours after all... TIL something new, thanks!

[-] Bluskale@kbin.social 1 points 10 months ago

Wait, what’s the connection between monkeys and gazelles that makes this make sense?

[-] AnokLola@lemm.ee 1 points 10 months ago

Gazelles are more aesthetically pleasing than monkeys. That's it.

A remainder everyone with a Instagram account that clicked on the @ logo counts as an active user

It’s a reference to LA Noire

[-] tb_@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

I'm well aware, but in this context it gets a bit of double meaning

[-] OneWomanCreamTeam@sh.itjust.works 4 points 10 months ago

Press mastodon to doubt

I mean. Until now I thought that Threads was a shitty copy of a shittier dying social, but now that his actual owner said otherwise i have to belive him, right?

“Great” in the way that Metaverse was great, or this the real sort of great, as in “free beer” great?

[-] pimento64@sopuli.xyz 16 points 10 months ago

[-] ezchili@iusearchlinux.fyi 6 points 10 months ago

[-] Xero@infosec.pub 5 points 10 months ago

Is it weird that I think of an ouroboros every time I see the Threads logo?

[-] registrert@lemmy.sambands.net 3 points 10 months ago

We all know them numbers are inflated, whats the number of daily active users not visiting Threads via FB activity?
