This kind of stuff is exactly what the fediverse needs. Great work!

[-] hariette@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago

100%! So much growth left in the fediverse. And I can’t wait for more competition on the app space :D

That's fantastic. Keep up the good work!

Thank you, just doing my part to serve the community!

[-] onyx@kbin.social 6 points 1 year ago

iOS dev, making a cross platform app, inspired by how apollo was?! Oof, as an Android user, i cant wait! 👍

[-] hariette@kbin.social 7 points 1 year ago

Budgeting to get an Android device so I can test it myself too ;)

Also, Apollo was just iconic. If I can built half of that, we’ll be rocking it!

[-] vektor@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

Which Android device are you looking at? I've always wondered how devs develop for Android since there's so many different kinds of devices that run Android with different capabilities. With iPhones, I'm (hopefully correctly) assuming that it's a little easier since there's only so many versions to support.

[-] hariette@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

Yep, much easier on iOS. For Android I'll prob pick a Pixel.

[-] nmac101@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

You should try using Android as your daily driver though. Some months ago I tried iOS and I hated it. Of course this is a personal opinion, but you should really try it. My current phone is the OPPO Reno8 Lite. It's cheap, fast and overall really good.

[-] hariette@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

I got a One Plus 11 coming tomorrow. Gonna be my daily driver while I polish the Android side of the app :)

[-] nmac101@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Ooo, a pricey one. I've read great things about it.

[-] hariette@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

it's sooo nice. The ultra charging ain't a lie, crazy how fast.

[-] DarkThoughts@kbin.social 6 points 1 year ago

I'd rather see Relay or Infinity inspired stuff but I guess it's a first step for this type of field.

[-] hariette@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

Noted. I'll take a look at those and see what I can pull from them too.

[-] mountainpeacock@kbin.social 6 points 1 year ago

This is great! I miss features from apps on Kbin, like saving posts, collapsing comments, etc. Signed up.

[-] mountainpeacock@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

Wanted to add - Joey for Reddit was my go-to on Android when I left iOS/Apollo. Might be good inspiration, as well; I actually felt that Joey handled somethings much better than Apollo did.

[-] hariette@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

Hadn't heard of it. But taking a look!

[-] virgil31@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

Joey for Reddit is/was the ULTIMATE client if you desire customization of the experience.
Man...I spent days on those font size and elements to be show/hide on the cards/threads. But it was in the end MY PERFECT experience

It'd be nice to have a landing page like what Apollo has. One where you can favorite Magazines and the like.

[-] LennethAegis@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

I'm happy to see kbin apps start popping up so fast. Signed up for this beta.

Will this be open source?

[-] fl4shback@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

Following this with great interest! Thanks for your hard work :)
Signed up!

[-] Grimlo9ic@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

Signed up! I've been using a Firefox shortcut on my Android phone for the past couple of days, but an app would make things much easier and more accessible.

[-] Ataraxia@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I enjoy a beta test. Signed up.

[-] AnonymousLlama@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Great work, keen to see how this progresses.

[-] LollerCorleone@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

This is wonderful! Looking forward to seeing how the app shapes up. Have signed up for the beta test :)

[-] manwe@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Just signed up for the beta. Really looking forward to this!

[-] DodgeForthrast@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

You absolute legend. Make it paid and I’ll pay for it. This is how we win.

[-] hariette@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Awww thanks. My aim is to keep it free (plus ad free!). Just wanna help the fediverse become more accessible :)

If I do charge for something it would be for unique features that go above and beyond.

[-] ViridityCorn@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Looks great! How did you manage to actually pull data from Kbin? I just can't seem to get it working

[-] LoafyLemon@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Kmoon is a fantastic name. Looking forward to it!

[-] KnittingTrekker@kbin.social 0 points 1 year ago

I am definitely interested, but I have a question: if I entered the beta testing, what would be my responsibilities? I ask before I have never beta tested anything...

[-] hariette@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago

Like using an app but you can't hate on it if anything is broken lol. Instead you have to submit feedback/issues so they can be addressed. But also, could just be new ideas in the form of feature requests.

I'll prob setup a Discord and an issue tracker on github.

[-] KnittingTrekker@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Thank you. Honestly I am very nervous about it, I am still unsure if I will subscribe. The problem is more about me being a tech noob than anything, I am really just a casual user who has learned how to Google tech/computer tutorials when needed (and even then, with mixed results lol) so I worry I would be a useless tester

[-] nobloat@vlemmy.net 0 points 1 year ago

That's fantastic news! Any chance it'll be available on F-droid ?

[-] hariette@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

I'll take a look at that!

[-] watchdog@kbin.social 0 points 1 year ago

Kbinauts to the moon! Signing up now!

[-] vektor@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Kbinauts is a great name for kbin users!

[-] Meshuggah333@feddit.de 0 points 1 year ago

Would you consider Linux support as a Flatpak app?

[-] hariette@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

Certainly! Remind me if I forget :P

[-] meisme@kbin.social 0 points 1 year ago

How's it pulling data? There is currently no kbin API (previous one was removed)

[-] hariette@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

I posted elsewhere in thread. But I’m hosting my own API service for it. I can write about it after I get the app out.

It’s a stopgap solution in the meantime.

[-] SirSnufflelump@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

I'm not on ios, but still great to see people making apps for the fediverse. Also this is the first time I'm seeing a kbin thread from lemmy, so I guess kbin has federation working again!

[-] Otome-chan@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

federation has been working slightly and slowly these past few days. nothing speedy. not sure it's 100% back yet? but yes I'm on kbin.social and seeing your comment clearly :)

[-] hariette@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Yay, federation! <3

And I'm planning on supporting x-platform ;)
