An important article related morphological autonomy and self-determination.

I think it's also worth considering this in the context of FOSS and it's ability to empower as such. Self-hosted stuff or implants that are capable of containing their own computation rather than being required to use the internet to the cloud may help with this ^.^

I'm never getting a brain implant, I don't care what people have to say about it. If even one tiny little thing goes wrong with it you'll either die or be mentally handicapped for life.

Yet, this implant enabled the poor lady to live a somewhat normal life for a few years. I imagine that if I had this type of chronic and severe disability that could be significantly helped with an implant I would go for it, damn the risks.

I'd be okay with it, if there wasn't any malicious intent behind the plan of what they want to do with them in a few years.

It's only a matter of time before these brain implants will make you want to buy materialistic crap.

Transhumanism

Community for transhumanists, discussion of transhumanism, news about transhumanism-adjacent technologies, information on related technologies, transhumanist philosophy, and things you are doing now personally or in an organisation to push forward the technology and political foundations for transhumanism.

Definition of transhumanism I'm using:

The promotion of widespread access to - and development of - technology to alter, improve (by your own definitions), integrate with, or completely replace your body and control your very identity, in the name of self-determination and autonomy - up to and including immortality and total digitization, but not only that!

Also, an exploration of the consequences of the types of development associated with transhumanism and the positive and negative responses to it.

I actually use a more philosophical definition personally but this is close enough to what I think transhumanism is.

Community rules:

Given that this is also hosted on a somewhat infosec oriented instance (infosec.pub), I hope we can discuss some of the privacy aspects of transhumanism and related tech too :)
