Sweet! I didn't know you created those, I used the MCDM vampires in my Curse of Strahd game and loved them. I also used your earlier varieties of vampires like the Bonded Vampire. You've made some really distinctive, fun monsters! Thank you.

Cairn 2e Playtest just made available (newschoolrevolution.com)

Cairn, by Yochai Gal, is getting a 2e and the playtest doc is linked in the announcement post. Among other changes, it contains some really cool new character backgrounds similar to Electric Bastionland. Check it out!

Personally I've played 1e and very much enjoyed it, but wished it had just a tiny more going on in character advancement and mechanics for running longer campaigns. Seems like I'm getting just what I want with this new version.

That looks so cool! From a distance it appears to just be the natural shape of the wood, I like the delight and surprise as you get close enough to see the details. So unique.

  • What's the on-call process like?
  • How much time off on average do developers actually take?
  • What is the testing and QA process?
  • How do you measure success of a project?
  • When and how do you evaluate employee performance?

I want to make sure my work-life balance isn't going to be awful, and hearing that they have Unlimited Vacation doesn't tell me how much vacation people actually take. I also want to know that the place isn't just doing what a manager thinks "feels right" but actually measures and has standard processes for making decisions.

Another question I usually ask that may be relevant for many of you: what proportion of your developers are women? And: are there any women in tech leadership roles?

Personally, with that one, I'm mostly just looking for a normal response and that it isn't zero. I don't want to be the only woman around.

Spell points instead of slots for sorcerers. Makes em feel more distinctive, works better with the limited spells known, and they need the flexibility to compete with other casters.

I've been going to Switch n' Play shows for a while now and they're always great. This show looks really cool and I wanted to post about it, it's a great way to see some incredible performers. Seems like it'll be a lot of references to John Waters too!

If you're in NYC come out tonight for a good show. I'll share pics here after though!

That's tough, I've been going to drag shows since I was 17. I think watching Rocky Horror when I was 13 got me into the idea though, I dressed up as Frankenfurter for Halloween that year, didn't know what drag was but I was sorta trying it. I have performed only a few times, but I love going to shows. It's so freeing. I love the humor, the fantasy, the music and the people. I can't pin it down to just one thing.

Yeah, I agree - assuming most of the roots are still in the bark/moss, it's fine. In the wild they hang off trees, they've got it covered.

Darmok is probably my favorite but this list is perfect

Yeah, I don't buy that humanity has drastically changed all of a sudden. It's the circumstances that are different and we're all paying the price.

Ukraine too! My Ukrainian grandfather made it.

I highly recommend the book First Among Equals. It's specifically about running a team of developers and managing them well. I found it full of good ideas and it's specific to tech as well, it's not just general management advice.

I think what you've got but styled more would look good. Kinda like Sam from Supernatural. When your hair is towel-dry, style it. Part it with a comb on top near the side, just above the outer edge of your eye. Comb it out straight. Rub a quarter-sized dollop of medium-hold hair gel or styling cream into your palms and finger-comb your hair with your hands, so you spread the gel throughout your hair but don't actually get big clumps. The goal with the styling product is to tame flyaways and keep volume, not to slick it back. Check the part again and fix it with the comb if it's messed up.

Keep the back trimmed up to your neck so it's never longer than the front or sides.
