There's definitely a balance to be struck, and it depends on the table. I would only do this on a table where the rules are actually just guidelines.

For many others, a world needs to make sense internally. It doesn't need to make real-world sense, but within the world with its different reality, things kinda need to be consistent. For example, if it is easily possible for a wizard to circumvent your will save by asking a trick question, the whole world would look completely different. Almost everyone who interacts with any kind of wizard would be extremely guarded around giving consent for anything since it might just be a ploy to remove their resistances.

A resourceful/logical player would now try to trick an NPC into agreeing first, and well, if it doesn't work, you can still cast the spell normally, nothing lost. You could ask them to stop, or they could recognize themselves that doing it like that wouldn't be fun, but if you act in the world you usually always try to make the best decisions. If you artificially limit that in a fourth-wall-breaking way, the game actually starts to lose its appeal.

If you allow stuff like this all the time, eventually the alternate reality of your characters will just become a random clown show. Problem solving will just be about who comes up with the most ridiculous thing that makes everyone laugh about its absurdity. There will be no logic or rational thought involved anymore, it'll be no simulation anymore, just a sandbox. Which again, might be fine for certain tables, but many want to be able to immerse themselves in a different world that they can accept as at least possible, which is the actual fun for them.

So no, you aren't necessarily "not fun" if you don't allow this as a DM. You're just playing a different kind of game with a different kind of fun.

Btw, if you look at the thread in question where you were called out for being wrong, all the comments name-calling and bullying you were removed. Moderation doesn't work instantly.

Neither DuckDuckGo nor Google are particularly good at it, since you can't do something like site:reddit.com. How do you guye search or is this just an unsolved problem?

It's just a joke, I don't actually think league players are any better or worse than dota ones.

Dreamleague S22 was the last T1 tournament: https://liquipedia.net/dota2/DreamLeague/Season_22

It was played with a format of 2 large group stages and a small finals bracket with the top 4 teams.

Team Falcons continued their domination from the previous tournament (BB Dacha). It seems like the pro scene is a bit shaken up after the last TI and its season, with teams like Gaimin Gladiators and Team Liquid not really at the top anymore. Apart from Team Falcons, the whole scene looks a bit more even right now. The Eastern European teams, namely BB Team and Team Spirit, also look strong right now, together with some of the Chinese teams, mainly Xtreme Gaming.

As for meta, a selection of the top heroes right now:

For the support role(s), Chen, Batrider, Lion, Mirana, Shadow Demon, Tiny, Enigma, Techies

Popular offlaners include, Mars, Timbersaw, Centaur, Magnus, Dragon Knight.

Mids are Puck, Pango, Dragon Knight, Storm Spirit, Timber, Templar Assassin.

Carries include Naga, Sven, Morphling, Terrorblade, Faceless Void.

Playstyle-wise, there was a lot of focus on individual outplays, particularly from the offlane role. Successful teams had lots of the "meta" heroes in their repertoire and were able to use them to snowball from the laning stage into the midgame, simply securing more farm by pushing the enemy off the map and into defensive positions through outplays in how the map was played, which heroes could be where and how fights went. As such there was a higher focus on teamfight heroes with big ultimates, like Mars, Enigma, Faceless Void, Pheonix, Undying, but also saves against that, like Shadow Demon, also Undying, Vengeful Spirit.

I have a slightly different perspective that hasn't particularly been mentioned yet.

I think you agree that communication with your spouse and friends is better in person than online. Otherwise, why do you live together with your spouse? That's the argument of the meet-in-office folks.

However, the difference is that you don't care about or hate your job and/or coworkers. Other people, who push for these meetings, do not feel like this. Hence they enjoy the higher quality of relationship offered by occasional in-person time, but you don't.

I don't think you have to worry too much. A classic gift of a vibrator should probably get your point across and not get misinterpreted.

(Sorry, I had to, I know I'm dumb)

It's perfectly possible to say "this is unacceptable, we never break userspace. Mauro, your change is obviously what is breaking userspace because ..." without adding "SHUT THE FUCK UP" or "[all of this is] TOTAL CRAP", i.e. being direct without being derogatory.

Fandom is for-profit and making their service ever more shitty in pursuit of that. Use https://getindie.wiki/

It's ridiculous how many people completely dismiss something/someone just because of one thing. True, the main Lemmy devs seem to have some very questionable views on some topics. But they also quite obviously care a lot about privacy, free and open platforms, decentralization of power, I've not found any evidence of them censoring or even shittalking any opposing views, and their goal is to have a world where everyone is well taken care of and there's no corporate greed ruining communities.

It's just irrational blind hate because of political disagreement. Politics is the mind-killer.

Because the single only way to do communism is how the UdSSR did it, there's no other way.

And of course it's only possible to either agree with the whole of a specific ideology, or none of it. There's no "good parts of communism" or "bad parts of capitalism" it's only ever all good or all bad.

Politics is the mind-killer.

I do wonder why people are waiting and wanting these proprietary apps. Instead of using the open source ones more in the spirit of Lemmy and waiting for them to improve. These third party apps made sense for reddit since reddit was closed source and the official app was a pile of garbage whose only purpose was making people see as many ads as possible. But that's not true for Lemmy anymore, the official apps are already pretty nice and open source, so improvable by everyone (including Sync/Boost developers).

But I guess going from reddit to Lemmy is already a large break and people want to not have to change more than necessary. And Sync/Boost devs want to continue making money makes sense of course as well. I'm interested to see how all that goes.
