I'd call it a pyrrhic victory at best. It's like if Ukraine got Russia to use their nukes on them and there was no response from the rest of the world. Sure, you got them to use their strongest weapon, but you still got nuked and they'll continue as usual.

Tbf, in technology and IT the term "master" is often paired with "slave", so the connection is a lot more reasonable.

I believe the word you're looking for is "peddling", unless you mean they're using viagra to propel a bike forwards

Also not actually bad if you actually use the calories immediately, like an Olympic athlete likely will.

i think it's partly because it's often very easy for experts to overestimate what non-experts know, even people with some knowledge in the field (relevant xkcd as usual), so it's probably easier to just dumb it down as much as you possibly can. That way you're sure most people can actually understand.

While that may be true, the title and article act as if the US is the world, as if "the most humane dairy farms" in the US are the most humane dairy farms in the world, which is clearly not even remotely close to the truth.

couldn't find a grainier comparison pic just to make sure that it's impossible to actually see any difference, in addition to the distance difference?

Luckily an entirely uncorrupt government is not necessary, since that is indeed quite unlikely to ever happen. It is enough to have low corruption, which is much more achievable.
