Off topic, but this is why I love Lemmy; Look at this comment section. Many people here have a logical stance, either for or against the genAI use. Both sides are making good points. Reading through the article alongside the comments, my opinion was really teetering. It's nice to be able to come in with an open mind and be challenged like this.

I believe they could have done this between the easy and normal difficulties because there's not much of a difference between the two other than health regen and numbers for you and the enemies. But two reasons I see that they didn't.

Madhouse difficulty changes so much it really wouldn't be possible for you to swap difficulties mid playthrough, so maybe they just ignored it for the other ones. Or, the reason I think is most likely, RE7 has adaptive difficulty. So even if you're on normal and struggling, things will get nerfed or you will get buffed after dying a few times.

If you had the preorder bonus(?) it unlocks Madhouse from the start which I guess could be a trap if you're not ready for it and pick it.

Mine had me believing everyone in the world was out to get me, while simultaneously I felt like the smartest person in existence. Like everyone around me was on a plane below mine, not even close to what I was. The only constant was the love for my cats, they were my emotional anchor.

I think back, I was so cold and calculated with people during that time. You couldn't talk to me without me pointing out the flaw and corruption in everything you discussed with me, I found a way. I don't even think I was wrong about much when I did that, but nobody wants to hear it on repeat. In every conversation. I sucked the positive emotion away from anything because I hated the world.

My point being, during a manic episode you can easily convince yourself that everyone else is wrong or incompetent. The meds can very well be bad and dulling, that's why there are so many. So you can find one that helps you more than it hurts you. That episode tore my life apart in the matter of a week, and I was excited for it.

I'm not sure how good it is, but since they already have my information I figured it was fine to use their service instead of increasing my footprint by passing my info to another company. I have, however, known a few people who have faced similar confusion as you are now. They ended up being neurodivergent, and it was hard for them to comprehend that even with clean intentions, some things shouldn't be said. Please don't take this as an insult or me being accusatory of you, I just think it might be worth looking into based on the little information I'm working with here.
