Except I've literally seen several of those blanket defenses on ml, as well as posts claiming that these countries aren't even dictatorships, as well as posts justifying and defending Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and placing the blame for the continuing war on Ukraine for not surrendering. All of which I've seen posted, and upvoted uncritically on ml

Just because the US is a pile of crap doesn't make it remotely acceptable to defend brutal dictatorships that will arrest you for simply being gay. Or throw you out of a window if you complain about their dear leader too much.

Your internet traffic is already encrypted in transit, that what the "s" in https means.

A VPN does exactly two things: Hides your traffic from your ISP (but shows it to the VPN provider instead) and masks your IP and physical location.

Everything else is advertising and marketing gimmicks

I've repeatedly seen posts on lemmy.ml defending Russia and NK, both brutal dictatorships that tread on human rights with feet, so no. I am most certainly not making stuff up

Make it green, and add the line "If this sticker is red, then I'm going too fast"

Pretending Russia, China and NK are flawless just because they're (former) communist countries isn't left of AOC, it's just plain idioicy and propaganda.

They teach literal children to not judge a book by it's cover, but I guess you must've been out sick that day in kindergarden....

Visa workers aren't replacing American workers, they supplements them. Workers on visas are a pain in the ass. No company is ever gonna hire a non permanent resident if there's an equally qualified native citizen available for the position.

Countless studies have shown that immigrant labour is a boon to the economy, and immigrants statistically create demand for more jobs than they take.

Foreign workers are also a massive boon to tax income. Some other country spent 18 years paying for their income less childhood and education, and then they leave that country, and start paying taxes in America.

Because circle all have the same proportions. You can take any circle, and just evenly make it bigger or smaller to make it perfectly overlap with any other circle.

The ratios of shapes only ever change if their proportions change. That's why every single square also always has the same ratio between it's side and diagonal (√2).

And the ratio of a rectangles side to it's diagonal will always be the same, regardless of size, as long as the aspect ratio is the same.

That's literally what a ratio of a shape lengths are supposed to measure: if you scale two shapes of equal ratios to the same size, they will always be identical, because that's what ratios are defined to tell you.

And since any circle is completely indistinguishable from any other circle, except for size, all ratios of a circles size will always be identical

It's infuriating to me how often you see car drivers ranting and complaining about things like speed traps, and how common apps and traffic radio report these.

Drivers are probably the only group of people on earth who not only routinely whine about the consequences of their illegal actions, and attempts to enforce those consequences, without any broad pushback, but in fact get broad systematic support specifically designed to help them avoid these consequences.

Imagine if restaurant owners routinely complained about how "predatory" and "unfair" random health inspections, and fines for non-compliance are. Imagine if someone made an app that warned restauronteurs a day or two ahead of every health inspection, so they don't have to bother keeping their kitchen code compliant any other time. People would be outraged. But when drivers make those same complaints about speed cameras or traffic enforcement in general, and get those same systems to avoid them, everyone just accepts it as a completely normal thing.
