Yeah I've been trying to do this. He definitely had this because he gets excited and surprised when people speak to him in English.

My experience is completely anecdotal, so may not apply. Your toddler is like 2.5 years. I found it hard around that age, but after calmly setting boundaries, explaining why and being open to negotiation, at around 3 it became super easy.

Tantrums for my kid are 99% of the time just because he's hungry. I just explain this to him during and after the tantrum. Like "so you were really sad before, but after eating you're happy now right? Do you think that would help next time you are sad?" Now he will sometimes tell me he's just super hungry when he's upset.

Other than playing with him which I enjoy, he's like 70% in auto pilot.

Are you from one of those socialisms that I was told about growing up? I'm so glad you managed to find enough food to survive to adulthood.

Advocates, largely driven by tribal activists along the Klamath River, have been pushing for these dams to be decommissioned for more than 20 years

I hope they are actively involved. Growing up, I was repeatedly taught how American indigenous people were much better with nature than we were. Then I was taught how we actively ignore their advice. Maybe it's time to listen.

Sadly, big companies truly do not care. I was part of a net-zero project at my company (major polluter/CO2 emitter) and it is getting cut right now. I joined in hopes of helping fix it, but I simply can't fight endless bureaucracy and rich people.

I can only speak for my project, but it's not even just the CEO/board in my case. Mid-levels burned so much money that the project became completely infeasible (ie. negative return and scaling would make it worse).

I read one article just now, but it sounds different.

The government's changes to Policy 713, the education policy on gender identity, now make it mandatory to get parental consent before using a child under 16's chosen name and pronoun —even verbally — in class, according to Education Minister Bill Hogan.

And if a child says no to involving their parents, Hogan said they should be directed to a school psychologist or social worker to come up with a plan to do so.

~~This is reasonable IMO. If I'm reading this correctly, the children aren't being forcibly outed. Also I believe conversion therapy is illegal now, so in theory, this would be healthy.~~

~~Frankly, I would want children to have access to supportive parents OR qualified social workers.~~

EDIT: It's not different that the US if you read other articles

Well. I guess I have you good advice a few days ago. Hope you're safe.

I'd suggest laying low until you graduate. Only date same sex in private.

Once you move out for college, your parents can't control you.

Yeah. Honestly, I prefer it to anything else. For example, if I'm signing a contract, then the signature comes with their personal ID number. If I need to sue, then

  1. I have their personal ID number
  2. I can electronically serve them the court documents
  3. I can log into their governments web portal
  4. Cross border stuff gets way easier.

Amazing how often these straight cis men think about trans people. Maybe they need some conversion therapy too.

Backblaze + rclone mount encrypted drive = e2e encrypted

On Android RCX available in F-droid works as the rclone client.

Collabora as the text editor on my phone. Libreoffice as my toolset on Linux.

I prefer this to Google drive for everything except sharing files. Sharing can be done over email, but Google docs was nicer.
