Some polls showed that Trump was the second choice even for Stein voters
Vote PSL. They are the only serious Communist Party running a presidential candidate. The Greens are fundamentally liberal social-Democrats at heart. They're better than Democrats, but not by much.
They aren't. Those are the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA. These guys are the Revolutionary Communists of America. Two completely different, unrelated orgs.
I'm in the PSL and I recently started meeting regularly with a couple guys from the local RCA. Their organization is not perfect but they have been friendly and enthusiastic about cooperation and I look forward to working with them. Here's some of what I've learned either from them or the PSL:
They're a continuation of a Trot party, Marxist International (that changed its name at least partially due to a sex pest scandal), but they claim to be "non-sectarian Marxist-Leninists" and not Trots. The local guys seem unaware of the history of their party, they joined two months ago along with the name change and believe that the party is new and was founded two months ago.
I've re-written this paragraph several times because I don't want to come off as too harsh, because they really are good folks who are doing their best, but: their organization suffers from a lack of, well, organization, and a focus on what I believe to be ineffective tactics ("agitation", selling newspapers on street corners, etc.). They are also admitted class-reductionists, and the local branch at least is seven or eight white guys and one of their girlfriends. They've read a lot of books but knew very little about the political struggles going on in their own city.
The only time I would suggest joining the RCA is if you've already tried to join your local PSL branch and haven't heard back.
Not sure if you missed the reference, but the guy in the emoji - Macron - married his teacher.
Our big wet boy has got a new brain
If I had to give them the benefit of the doubt: that prior to Western Capitalism (Imperialism, etc.), being queer (in whatever way; being attracted to the same gender, identifying with a gender other than your agab, not fitting in with either gender's norms, etc.) was not an "identity" the way it is today; that, like with race, the distinction is made to otherize and oppress (though, of course, while that oppression is happening, those identities can also be a rallying point for those oppressed cultures themselves).
The Federation is Socialist, but Star Trek is not a Marxist piece of media.
It follows a Liberal, Democratic-Socialist, Reformist line of thinking - that, at least once the world has been shocked by the brutality of global war and eugenics - Humanity will "come to it's senses" and move towards Democratic Socialism through reform. When post-scarcity is achieved, the Capitalist class will just let this happen.
It is a Socialist world devoid of the ideas of class conflict; it presents a world compatible with Socialist ideals but not one compatible with scientific Socialist theory.
That's not to say you can't still like Star Trek as a show or use the Federation as an example of a good Socialist society. You just have to keep in mind that the world's history does not make sense when viewed through the lens of Marxist class conflict.
Started getting properly into Starfield and I had a thought pop into my head that I'd like to know if it's true or not:
Bethesda is a creatively bankrupt company. They can only take existing interesting settings (Fallout, Elder Scrolls) and build lackluster games to take place in them.
The people currently at Bethesda have never done a creative thing in their lives, so they just did Skyrim in space but without any of the interesting backing of the TES world. You've got the UC (Empire, order and bureaucracy) and the Freestars (Stormcloaks, liberty and old-fashioned values). They basically just did dragon shouts again. And the combat basically just feels like Fallout but - again - with anything unique or interesting stripped off.
It is a game utterly devoid of charm or originality because Bethesda as a company cannot create those things, they can only borrow the creative works of others to slap their shitty engine on top of.
It's a general-purpose instance that leans Libertarian.
Take a look at their community list. Besides the sorts of general-purpose communities that every instance has: Gaming, NonCredibleDefense (started as a shitposting spinoff of CredibleDefense, a subreddit about military discussion. Nowadays the community is basically a NATO circlejerk), AI shit, and "MeanwhileOnGrad", the community dedicated to posting our w's to get mad at.
(And after checking, it turns out the guy in the screenshot is the sole moderator of /c/MeanwhileOnGrad who makes basically all of their posts lol. Talk about living rent free)
The owner of sh.itjust.works is also a weird free-speech-absolutist Libertarian guy. He made a big stink about the community forcing him to defederate from exploding-heads, the Nazi instance, because he believed in "free speech". Users pointed out that sh.itjust.works had been defederated from Lemmygrad since it was created, and the admin confessed that that was because of "personal opinions" (that apparently did not apply to literal Nazis).
I think it's very good that they're holding this meeting, but I feel that it should be held in person and the venue announced beforehand
