"Conservative America" is probably praying to God that Trump will legalize his pedo thing in his third term so that they can do their own pedo thing without fear of legal persecution. Priests especially lol

I used to give money to beggars, but after having a couple bad experiences mostly in my early 20s, I just tell them bluntly nowadays that I don't give my money away.

I'll vote for homeless shelters and better social programs, but giving it away on the spot is a fool's errand imo.

Apparently they do -not- have a Need for Speed

Yah just use Firefox or Moisturefox or whatever flavor of like Google's only competitor browser you want. I haven't used Chrome since I first caught wind of Google pushing their entire web-DRM thing they were trying to do to make us look at ads. I can wait an extra 1/100 of a second for the web page to load and adjust to slightly different browser plug-ins to literally save the entire free and open web lol

I do wonder if they'll begin donating to their hospitals instead of their churches

Excited to see how many rural hospitals shut their doors

And what did you do?

My take is that this guy did business with Best Buy, not Door Dash. I would never do business with Door Dash and I'm never doing business with Best Buy after hearing this story. It's up to Best Buy to wrangle their contractors, not OP. I'd also just do the chargeback tbh. The credit card company always sides with their customers unless it's obviously a scam, and if there's video evidence, the credit card company has no problem taking their money back from Best Buy. They have no reason to choose Best Buy because they have no other option if they want to keep accepting credit cards. OP has dozens of credit card and banking services to choose from instead.

I'll never forget what Israel is doing to these people.

I would be reluctant to take a factory job, even if it paid more than my college educated job. You are more than likely going to be forced to move to the middle of nowhere to develop hyper-specific skills. Once the company decides they had a bad quarter, they're going to lay you off and you'll face moving away entirely again to find another job. And you'd better hope you were performing tasks with transferable skills, otherwise the next factory is going to start you off on the same five or ten year cycle of working for raises and better positions before it happens all over again.

The modern boom-bust-layoff cycle tells me that I should never invest in a company, because nobody is offering guarantees and they are especially not offering contracts. And if they do, there's no way it'll be for my benefit.

With my college education, I at least know I have transferable skills and have been able to pick an industry I actually enjoy, instead of settling for what was nearby or available.

Doing this at least once or twice a year is sure to maximize the life expectancy of your refrigeration appliances.

I've found myself looking for a really good can opener. I purchased my last one, a KitchenAid, from Target and I've been disappointed in it the whole time. Sometimes it doesn't puncture the lid right, and it feels like it got rusty kinda fast--not at all what I want out of a utensil I hoped would last for a decade or more (who wants to keep buying can openers? lol).

I'm looking for a manual handheld can opener. I've always had the type that opens from the top, but a little bit of Googling shows that there are types that open from the side. I'm in the USA if that matters!

What does Lemmy think?
