There forum is down from so many people posting. Crazy. The internet is so unstable right now, first with twitter, then reddit, and now a massive youtube company.

Is there a way to only see post from communitys I've subscribed to? There is this functionally in many other lemmy ui's. It would go along with the All, Local feeds. Thanks!

Dan! I kinda wish he gets put in an LTT video, but for now, Shortcircuit Dan is a great way to start my morning. Other than that, we need more Yvonne and Sarah!

I wouldn't count on it, it's not that mainstream yet. But if they do it, Emily would be the perfect host

Yeah, maybe shouldn't have mentioned sync in my post. I was just doing as a joke though.

It's actually not that complicated. Lemmy just works like email. You can use different email providers (lemmy calls them instances) like gmail.com or yahoo.com and they work together. What you call subreddits is called communities and they are managed by a instance. If one instance does something that you don't like, you can use another. They all work independently but exchange data. If you have any questions see this. Hope this helps

You may have misunderstood, I was saying along with supporting the sync dev, the backend that powers sync was made by very different developers. Their work powers lemmy as a whole. If you can, you can support them by donating using this link: join-lemmy.org/donate

You don't have to explain if you can't! Don't feel bad. Supporting yourself should definitely come first. Hope you are doing alright.

Don't get me started on twitch subs. Supporting a creator you like is fine, but spending 100s of dollars on gift subs is so stupid.

I think now is a great time to remind everyone, like sync's developer, Lemmy's developers need to be paid too! The amount of time all the devs put into making lemmy exist, in my opinion, should be worth some of your money. If you can afford it, donating to the people who develop lemmy and/or the people keeping your home instance up will accelerate the incredible growth of lemmy!

More specifically, how does the 'hot' sort option work? It seems to be based on what posts I look at (I think) unlike top and new which are the same for everyone. Is this true? And if so, who controls how the algorithm works? My home instance? Or the base lemmy code?

Ah, that makes sense. In my case though, I used to never post on Reddit but on Lemmy I feel good contributing to this community. I hope a lot of the other Reddit refugees who lurked feel the same way

Synopsis: Alex claims the all electric Porsche Taycan Linus bought, although having all the cool features, lacks the "fun" of a gas car. A gas car like the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla Core. Linus drives the GR Corolla, then Alex takes it to the track.

What do you think of the video?

I like how Linus was saying LTT was moving away from jank, this video says otherwise.

I'm new, should I post video updates like this when LTT releases good videos? Or is this community just for discussion?
