I think they are referring to the actual collapse taking 11 seconds, not the time from the impact to the eventual collapse

I met this awful German guy in China and one time he pointed at a guy begging outside a park in Kunming and made some comment about how easy he has it, and I said the exact same thing. If it's such a good life why don't you adopt it?

He was living off inheritance from his parents dying.

He truly was awful. I guess I just had a lot of fun telling him that to his face. He was clearly very lonely and yet would still want to hang out with me even though I spent the whole time lecturing and berating him.

Totally normal thing for mass murderers to do

They could have chosen any picture of the statue. I'd like to think the intern who picked it knew what they were doing

I've seen the S tier fascists online quite a bit. And I've met quite a few of the D tier western boot kickers in real life. They are exclusively the kids of rich parents and who have studied abroad. They are insulated from the hardships of life and pretty much love the west because they have access to drugs and therefore "freedom". Also, being rich they see more opportunities to exploit and get richer in the west than in China.

The obvious answer is with a knife and fork

Does he have a set of crazy frog genitals?

I put my dad's name and a deceased friend of mine's name in the x-clacks-header of an exchange server I used to manage for a large company. I still have an account on that system and they are still there, even after migration to the cloud.

Literally the stupidest thing I've ever read...

https://lemmy.ml/post/21542099

The man himself

I'm drinking beer I bought from a store, sitting at a restaurant table I didn't offer any food from, and some stranger just handed me a fist full of boiled peanuts.

Chengdu might be the most chill city I've visited so far.

I thought I was getting some orange soda or something, but colour me surprised when it turned out to be lethally sweet iron brew. Like the old stuff.

I'm so happy

It's all a bit hectic, but it's fun just chatting with people, swapping food and smoking cigs on the platforms when the train stops every now and then.

The idea of being on a train for two days is just so fricking cool

There's the odd things that, with the best will in the world, I'm having a trouble buying on the Chinese high street. What Chinese app (Amazon like) do I need to use to get something delivered to a hotel in China?

They have to be stopped

It comes in an sorts of varieties, from sweet, to fairly bland, but it's so much better than what I'm used to in the UK. Normally I'd never drink the stuff straight, but here it is a different thing altogether, and I'm actually picking it over beer some of the time.

It goes great with youtiao (油条), which is a sort of light fried batter stick that you dunk in a bowl of soy milk, sweetened to your taste.

Anyway, just thought I'd enlighten anyone who didn't already know.

There was some sort of anime themed dance off in the mall and the participants were all drawing on this massive fabric wall. Was very happy to see this.

The Chinese youth are alright.
