Think of it like email vs a website. Microsoft.com isn't connected to Yahoo.com, but they store email originating from both places. The difference here is those emails are email lists (posts and comments from subscribed communities) and get sent automatically once they learn each other exist (because a user asked to get an email).

I had this feeling when deleting another social media account. On a good note, it's fleeting. Now most are in the void for me.

If I had figured out how to search for threads, I would point you to the thread from yesterday that got a bunch of comments. The answer is, yes, but.

It's not as efficient on the network, as it's a client getting all content for your subscriptions that isn't distributed to other users. But it will work just fine and has advantages like permanent account and control. Invite your friends, all it takes is one or two to make it worth the overhead.

I run my own fork where I added MySQL support for aliases. But otherwise it's great.
