Ah yes, my favorite "If your fever dream made music" artist!

Unsurprising

Yes, and one with unrestricted internet access. Can you elaborate on how someone underage would abuse this system? They can't buy one at the store, can't reuse one that has expired so finding one won't help, and if theft is a concern they would just need to be secured like any other restricted good. I would say it's at least as secure alcohol, tobacco, or firearms.

You know how there are stores that sell restricted substances and verify your age by checking a provided ID? Have those same stores sell a cheap, sealed card with a confirmation code on it. You can enter that code online to verify any service. The code expires after a set period of time after it's first use to prevent sharing and misuse.

This system would be as secure as the restrictions on the restricted substance, such as alcohol, so it should be fine for "protecting the children"

The opening scene involves the two of them locked in an apartment slowly starving to death while their neighbor attempts to summon a demon and dies leaving behind piles of edible meat.

Tap for spoilerThe incest doesn't happen until like act 3 and even then it's only as a possible outcome foreshadowed in a flash forward.

I'll leave directions here for when a sudden burst of motivation blindsides you.

  1. Sort by sender
  2. Unsubscribe from sender
  3. Delete everything from that sender
  4. Repeat until clean

If you go out again there's a chance you could catch a magnet!

I tell people it's my super power or computers just find me very intimidating.

You know how starring directly into the sun for too long leads to pain, damage, and blindness? Even just being exposed to it directly for too long can lead to burns, dehydration, and delirium. Best wear sunglasses, move into the shade, avoid spending too much time exposed, and drink more water.

This has been a metaphor, thanks for reading!

Good will and user happiness are both resources that companies earn and spend. I doubt lessons being learned.

I had a similar situation with a cabin with terrible switch placement and maybe a single switched outlet for a lamp that just wasn't positioned very well.

I used the wall switch to turn on the switched outlet and that triggered three other lamps to turn on. I also configured it to dim them all from that same switch, a Tapo S505D. It worked well until someone else plugged a space heater into the outlet and killed the dimmer.

I also put a ZBT-2 to add ZigBee to the system, as I had a bunch of IKEA smart, wireless remotes that just didn't work well through their hub and matter integration. With the ZBT-2, I added the remotes directly and had full control over the triggers, so I created an automation to act as a light switch that could be mounted anywhere and control anything.

When said person killed the dimmer, they just grabbed a wireless switch and stuck it on the wall above the switch and now the lights can be controlled while I order a replacement. I've got a bunch more remotes coming this week to add switches to every entrance to the room that previously had nothing.

Then you would fit in in the red areas.

Most reviews are boring, corporate friendly platitudes and a 5-star rating, but that really doesn't tell you anything about the product. Hell, it may just be a bot regurgitating the products marketing sheet!

But if reviews contained swearing, slander, or other legal minefields you could know it wasn't written by the company.

"This toaster is great, works well, likes to eat forks. Feed it a fork every morning to reward it for a good job."

"What a fucking great coffee machine! Be sure to lick any drips off the scalding hot plate, that's the most tasty part."

"5-stars, mine came with an official statement from the company saying Hitler did nothing wrong."

I recently started a new job after being unemployed for too long and slipping back into my night-owl habits and schedule. With the last job I used Google's Clock, Home, and YouTube Music apps to wake my ass up on time by turning on the lights and playing some music. While it worked at the time, I since removed the assistant from my phone the entire arrangement fell apart.

I spent too long trying to get Home Assistant to take over this process, but had so much trouble getting the pieces together. I just couldn't find an alarm clock app that could trigger a Home Assistant automation or a way to play music on either the Google smart hub I have as a clock or my phone. But tonight I got the past piece realigned, and it's fucking working!

How we do:

  • Set an alarm in your preferred mobile phone App. (I use the Fossify Clock)
  • Ensure the Home Assistant app has the Alarm Sensor enabled. (Settings > Manager Sensors)
  • Configure the Music Assistant addon to connect to your preferred device and music provider. (If it's YouTube make sure to grab the cookie in a private browser window!) -Create a Home Assistant automation that is triggered when the time matches the Next Alarm sensor. (Maybe offset it back by a few seconds to prevent update delay causing it to miss.)
  • Have the automation turn a nearby light at 1%, wait a little bit, and then start slowly increase to 100% over like 20 minutes.
  • Set the Music Assistant player to a volume to is loud enough to hear, but not quiet enough to ignore. Also set it to shuffle while you are at it.
  • Play your chosen music using Music Assistant on your player. Give it a playlist of your liked songs so that the shuffle always gives you something you like every day, but not the same song.
  • Get your ass up and get ready to work.

Of course, if you have ideas of how to improve this I would love to hear it. I already have my lights fade as it gets close to bedtime.

I made some cupcakes for my niece's birthday. Vanilla cake with chocolate frosting and some edible dinosaur decorations I found when picking up the containers to transport them in. Fairly tasty even if the frosting looked a bit crap-shaped. 💩

Here are the recipes I used:

Garlic salt, pepper, and paprika seasoned pepper jack cheeseburgers with mustard and barbecue sauce on toasted bagel buns.

This is an old photo, from 2018, but it is also one of the best photos I have ever taken of something I cooked. I spent a few days making the burger patties ahead of time and grilling them for lunch. The photo was to share with my coworkers to make them jealous because I lived close enough to work where I could actually cook a decent meal.

I'm currently sorting my backlog of photos, 12 years worth, and tagging them all for easier searching. When I came across this, I wanted to share.

A few years ago a friend gave me an "Urban Shop" glitter lamp as a gift. It was a neat twist on a lava lamp that used LEDs and glitter with a motor that spun the fluid using a magnetic string bar.

While it was a great vibe, it used three AA batteries and the stirring would cycle on and off regularly causing the noise to start and stop, which I found more distracting than just leaving it on.

I found that the on-off switch was actual an on-on switch without a second connection, so I took an old USB cable and hardwired the second switch terminal so that I could power it from a power supply or batteries.

This was a drastic improvement to me, but I didn't like the cord always being attached and the motor cycling was still annoying. Eventually, the lamp ended up on a shelf for a later date.

Today, I pulled the lamp down because I finally tried ESPHome because I keep hearing about it in other people's projects and wanted to finally try the full smart conversion of this lamp. After several hours of trying to reuse the existing surface-mount LEDs and wiring, I gutted the whole damn thing and installed my own 5mm LEDs, rewired the motor, and added a button for controls and wired everything into a Raspberry Pi Pico W I had bought years ago.

Now I have a lamp that can be controlled locally from the button, can be reprogrammed from my computer without moving the lamp, can be controlled from Home Assistant, and performs exactly how I want.

I just finished a project to make my own orb and now I can contemplate properly.

Given how many people treat speed limits as suggestions, at best, having your vehicle obey the limit would turn some people off of them.

Too cold to enjoy or too hot to eat?

With the release of Tapo version 3.0, TP-Link integrates their two lines of smart home devices into a single application, reducing the number of apps needed to control their devices.

Additionally, the update claims improvements to the user interface, optimized camera features, a sleeker status page, and faster responses and startups.

The blow post also suggest that improvements to lighting effects, smart actions, geofencing, and a dark mode will be coming in the future.

I think the best takeaway is that I can have one less app on my phone!
