My family has been using the Google Maps location sharing feature for a while. My partner is able to see if I'm running late, I can tell where my sister is when we travel together.

I would like to find a way to continue sharing my location with my family, without sharing it with Google. Are there any apps for this?

I have an older desktop (circa 2010) that I'm trying to repurpose into a small game server and NAS. It doesn't have UEFI. I've tried booting from USB and from DVD. I can get into the BIOS boot menu and select the device to boot from, but after I select it just goes to a blank screen.

I'm using the onboard AMD GPU. This is a fresh hard drive. I've tried the boot media on my laptop and it boots fine. I've put the old Windows 7 SSD back into the desktop and it boots fine. I've tried different images: Fedora Silverblue, Antix x64, Antix 386. Everything is giving the same results.

Can you recommend any other troubleshooting tips?

I'm looking for some advice about selecting an antenna. I live in an apartment, so I can't install anything permanent and can't anchor anything to the house. There is a small backyard about 30ftx30ft, some arborvitaes but no strong trees. My radio is on the second floor. There are also two-story houses behind and on either side. I am currently a technician, planning to upgrade to general in the next few months. Right now I'm mostly interested in 10m and 20m, would also like 2m to reach my local repeater. I plan to use SSB and digital modes. Some possible options I've come up with: using a stand like this https://www.dxengineering.com/parts/wmo-18320 with a mast to put up an inverted V, but I haven't done the measurements and math to see what the angle would be; my initial instinct is that it's too sharp of an angle to be effective. I also looked at this https://www.dxengineering.com/parts/dxc-expedition or https://www.dxengineering.com/parts/but-hf9v, but I don't have good line-of-sight with all the houses. I'm going to try building a couple of pvc/measuring tape Yagis, one for 2m and one for 70cm. I have a basic understanding that the satellite (going to try ISS voice first) will be at a certain compass direction and angle above horizon. I think my main question is the beacon. I tune to the beacon signal and start hunting for the satellite, what am I listening for? Any particular Homer advice?
